Hello all,

I am trying to get an idea of value for a 1943 WW2-era Colt 1911A1. The pistol does come with what I am told are the original grips (brown plastic GI, not pictured).

Thanks for any help in advance!

Here are some pictures of the pistol (note the raised fixed sights):

I will let others comment on value. When you get your asking price thought out, please let me know as I am interested.

Need better pictures of the top of the slide and the P mark on it.

Looks like a early 1944 Colt military contract accepted by Guy H Drewry frame, possible rework, possible replacement slide with sights that someone fugged up putting them on. $500 to $700 as a collector piece. Worth more to some one as a shooter.

On Gun Broker it would probably go for more to some hillbilly from KY  Just messin with ya IV77

It is a 1943. More valuable to this hillbilly if it were '42, but......

Serial numbers 1096405 through 1208673 were assigned to Colt in 1943.
GHD didn't acceptance stamp that lot until early 1944. So it wasn't a military Colt until 1944. Details, details. :beer::beer:

As a collector piece not so much. As a shooter for someone who wants a WWII Colt, it's worth more.

Thanks for all the help,

After doing some research it seems that that pistol has a 1943 Govt frame with a 1952-53 Govt slide and barrel.

I almost made a $1400 mistake, lol!
