So I went ahead and picked up a G42 to replace my Charter Undercover.
The G42 is thinner, lighter, and holds a couple more rounds, 6 +1, vs 5. Should make a good CCW piece.
Weight
G42 with 6 rounds 15.7 oz
Undercover empty 15.8 oz
I'll try to do a range report tomorrow

All I have for tomorrow is FMJ's to break it in. I just ordered 5 boxes of Cor-Bon 90 gr HP's that I should have sometime next week.

Congrats on the 42- I purchased one of them in April and so far it's been pretty good. I mainly run FMJ stuff thru but it digested almost all of the HP stuff I put thru it with the exception of Hornady XTPs. Also had spathe slide lock open a few times during firing but hasn't happened in a long time.

Glock seems to be having a few QC issues with the G-42. Some pols seem to be fine while others have problems (FTF, FTE). Hope yours is one of the good ones.

I read about that. It seems they changed the design of the slide release in June or July. Mine has a born on date of Aug 2014 and the -1 slide release was in it. So we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Does Glock put night sights on this model yet? I have a friend telling me there are no night sights available yet from Glock. I havent checked myself yet. Nice looking, I will have to check one out.

Not yet but a few companies make night sights for it.

Range report
Trigger took a couple rounds to get used to. It's a little stiffer and heavier than my G17. I seemed to push shots a little to the left. I also shot some Corbon HP's, a little snappier and 4 went into a ragged hole.

12 rounds @ 7yds with ball ammo

Since this isn't even a 2 finger gun for me a mag extension may help a bit

Did the slide lock-back at all during firing (with the exception of on an empty mag of course)? What ammo did you run thru it aside from the Cor-Bons?

I have only shot Remington 95gr FMJ and the Cor-Bon 90gr Hp's. The slide did not lock back while firing, except when the magazines were empty.

No issues to report. This pistol was made after the changes Glock made in July.
