CORRECTION: Under good light and a magnifier the serial number is 85K81XX.....I think I am getting too OLD for this crap! :shithitfan:

Might any of you happen to know what specific area the BSK series of revolvers were made.<<<<-----WRONG !!! Get a magnifier so you don't embarrass yourself next time you blind bastid!

I just picked up a really cool Model 14-4 and was wondering in what general time frame it was made.

It has a pinned barrel that is really nice.

Pics to follow. The website refuses to let me use a pic already posted. What a PITA. So I have to take new ones.

Not sure what BSK is, but the Target 14's were made from 1957 to ~1982.

The Smith&Wesson forums will have all your aanswers, but I'd guess a -4 was born in the mid to late '70s.

In my research I have come to understand the letters in front of the serial number have an indication as to when it was made.

My serial number is BSK81XX. I am hoping the pinned barrel means it was made in the 70's or so.

My guess would be BS=Border Service as in Border Patrol.

Thank you, 007. Your link set me to thinking maybe I read the SN wrong, and I did. I went up and changed it.

Looks like it was made in the late 70's. That is good to know.

I will also call S&W and send them the $50 it takes to get a thorough research done on it and have some official authentication papers.

It is not really a collector's item, but they are getting harder and harder to find. So papers from the factory would just be extra nice to have.

007...My research has shown me the BS means Blind Shithead. The BS turned out to be an 85....

Nice 14-4 retired. I also have a 14-4 (in the S&W pic thread) and really like the k frames.
