Hi guys,

I've been shooting a Glock 21 since the 90s. I'm a member in the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) which means that I receive coupons to purchase new Glock handguns at a discount from time to time.

I was happy to discover a new .45 today, the Glock 41. It seems to have a longer and lighter slide and barrel than the 21. I understand it uses the same magazines and has the same grip size of the 21. Does anyone have any experience with this gun?

Glock Model 41... I love my S&W Model 41, perhaps 41 is a lucky number for me

The 41 was introduced at SHOT last year and although it didn't seem to garner the attention that the 42 did, many seem to be happy with them compared to the hiccups that are being experienced with the 42. I've held a 41 and it felt great, but not enough for me to put down my 21 and buy one. Almost all reports I've heard/read have been positive on the 41.

I'm of the feeling that Glock took a step backwards in the evolution from Gen 3 to Gen 4.

I was considering getting a Gen 3 model 21 when I discovered the 41. I'm not typically an "early adopter" when it comes to firearms. But after a year there is probably some information out there. I'm hoping for some unbiased reports here before I purchase. Thanks for your input~

My 21 C is hard to beat.
Is this new one the same size?

The new 41 isn't the same size as the 21- has a longer and thinner slide (think Glock 30S concept on a Gen4 21). I'm in agreement with aquaman, while I own a Gen4 the majority of my Glocks are Gen 3s which I far prefer.

Agree, don't care for the gen 4.

I really like my Gen 4 21....shoots fantastic and the grip is right. Still love my 30sf but the 21 rides with me every day. ...different strokes I guess...got a Gen 4 17 as well...nice.

Be sure to watch the videos, Glock is also making a G40, I believe it's a 6 barrel 10mm.

Yes, the G-40 is a long-slide 10mm. Additionally they are introducing some variants of the G-34 and 35 that with slide-cuts for optic installation (like the small red-dot type sights). I believe the G-40 will offer this as well. Hold your breath for the G-43, single-stack 9mm to show up.

I've had a 41 for a few months. While I have a couple of G20 10mm Glocks, and generally like the large frame Glocks, the 41 feels great in my hands. The thinner 34ish slide really helps. It no longer looks like you're sighting down a carrier deck. It's a pretty soft shooter. My only gripe is the factory sights have it zeroed at about 125-150 yards with ball ammo. I still need to get around to fixing that. In some internet research, it seems like I'm not the only one who has that issue.

I picked up the G41 today. I was pleased to find that it snaps right in to the blade tech holster I use for my g34. I've not had an opportunity to fire it yet but hope to shoot a bit this weekend.
The grip doesn't feel as wide as my Gen 2 G21 but the 13 round magazines freely interchange which is a great bonus. I found that the medium sized grip insert best approximates the grip of the 21 and feels most comfortable to me.
I'll try to get some photos and more comments posted after I shoot some.
So far I'd say I have high hopes for this longer 45 but the g21 has been a favorite for many years...

I've handled the 41 and like the size and feel. I wish they had put the lightening cutout on the slide like my 34.

From the above photo you'll see the G34 on the left (has slide cut out), the G41 in the center, and the G21 on the right (looks short right?). An interesting comparison. Again, my kydex holster fits both the G34 and G41. You can see that the dimensions seem similar.

I had an opportunity to do some shooting today. I wanted to compare the G41 to my 2nd generation G21.

It was cold and foggy, we were shooting at 30 yards and I was wearing light gloves. I haven't been shooting much this year, I noticed that my first group was pulling left. I settled down a bit and my groups got better. I'm not used to shooting with gloves so the groups were bigger than normal but back to center.

The G41 was hitting 2-4 inches above center at 30 yards. Groups were tighter than my G21 even though the trigger wasn't as nice. I've spent some time and $ getting an acceptable trigger on the G21.

The recoil was similar for both guns. The G21 usually ejects shells into my chest, right arm, or face while the 41 ejects smartly over my right shoulder.

Now the 41 was like a death laser in my brother's hands. I was hitting clay pigeons at 30-50 yards... And missing clay pigeons at 30-50 yards. But my brother couldn't miss. He's negotiating for the gun now, it may not be mine for long. But that's ok, I'm certain Glock will make more. This gun with a bit of trigger work is an absolute winner if you're a .45acp fan.

dammit don't tell me that....I been putting off the 10mm waiting for sigs 220 to come out....6 in barrel 10mm g-lock may not be able to pass that up
