I'm getting some spares for a Steyr USR that I recently acquired. Which ones are better?

I'd say stick with the Steyr. Old, proven design. Works very well.

CDNN has them currently at $19.99, both the 30rd and the 42rd.

Yep,

Cant go wrong with Steyr and the prices are reasonable now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think MSAR mags will work in a Steyr.

Yeah, they're dimensionally the same. For $19 I couldn't resist getting one to compare to the Steyr mags. I bought several 30s and 42s Steyr mags too.

I had a few MSAR magazines, and they were junk. I ended up shooting one, and running the other one over with a truck until it came apart.

I have a Steyr AUG/A3, and I use Steyr magazines only now. Thankfully it was not an expensive mistake to make at the time. Steyr magazines can still be found reasonably, and they work as advertised.

I dunno, maybe MSAR magazines work well in a MSAR. I don't have any experience with the STG556 rifle, other than handling one once. Certainly do not have a very good reputation as a company though, and have quite a following of angry customers from what I have gathered.

The MSAR mag worked fine but I have more confidence in the Steyr mags.

This is my experience too.

MSAR mags have not given me a problem at the range but just thinking the Steyrs have to be at least as good.

It's worth the x-tra $1 for the Steyr!

Definitely.

I would not want to miss mine. I've got an AUG A3, no NATO stock.

Mine is all AUG, mags too, not considering the optics that are Nikon.

I had mine out yesterday to test some reloads, and the test went very well.

I've got a bunch of 30rd. , 4 x 42 rds, and a 10rd. range mag, all Steyr.
