I was wondering what mounting system others have used to mount the Saker on there FAL. I ordered the Trifecta MAAD Module and Muzzle Brake with the can and have purchased a Saker flash hider in 5/8x24 but after a little reserch and measuring this is not going to work for me. They offer the Saker flash hider in 1/2x28 but I am wondering if this will work on a 308 rifle. Anyone have any experience with this set up.
Thanks Vinsp

Until Silencer Co puts out additional threading options for their barrel devices your best bet is to install an AAC 51T mount with 9/16x24 LHT on your FAL. Buy Silencer Co's Saker 51T mount and swap it with the Trifecta mount currently on the can. Presto! You can now mount the Saker on your FAL.

Its been working well for me. The best thing is that the Silencer Co mount design is MORE stable/secure with the 51T mount than my AAC 762SDN6.

I got my 51T mount from of amazon.com

When my FAL was being built I had the barrel shortened and threaded 1/2x28 so the mounting of my Silencers would be easy.

I'm no fan of 1/2x28 on a .30 with a can. You can get away with the wall thickness with a flash hider, although it is also sub-optimal. But you put another foot of weight and leverage on that tiny 1/2x28 thread, and banging the silencer against a wall can bend your barrel.

I went with AAC for my cans, because of the mounting options.

I don't and won't own a 5.56 silencer so I'm using the same 30 cal silencers on my 1/2 X 28 AR's, and SIG's as well as my 308 Remington bolt. Never had a problem. The barrel of my FAL won't support 5/8 X 24 so 1/2 X 28 it was...But I understand what you're saying.

wall thickness.

The same 1/2" OD barrel has much thicker walls with a .22 hole in it, than with a .30 hole in it.

I only know of two rifles historically that have used 1/2" threads on a .30. The original AR-10, and the Galil (M13).

Not really problem with a flash hider. Or a suppressor that sleeves the barrel, so the OD is the support. But there is this thing called leverage. When you add an extension (silencer) to the 1/2" threads, and then smack the end of that silencer against a wall, there is an enormous amount of force applied to a very thin spot.

I'm not comfortable with it.

If you use a suppressor mount that extends over the shoulder of the threads, then it is the OD of the barrel supporting it, not the narrow recess behind the threads.

two words - thread adapter

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v355/rowdyfisk/FAL/349.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rowdyfisk/media/FAL/349.jpg.html)
screws on standard fal threads and leave 5/8x24 threads to screw my can onto

first one on google search - call around may find a better price
