I fired my Howa 1500 HB .308 today and it held right at 1 moa with fed. fmj ammo. I think it will do better with a better shooter.I had a BSA scope on it and changed to a Tasco(Japan) world class plus that I found at a local pawn shop, much better.

with handloads it will go well below 1 moa. pretty much anymore I only use howa actions for custom builds.

get some more trigger time and run some match ammo through it and you might be surprised to find how accurate they can be.

Was it the 24in barrel or the 20in? I've got one with the 20in barrel and it will shoot moa and under with handloads depending on the shooter that day.

Many of the top class benchrest and long range rifles here are being built on Howa actions now. Back in the late 80s the move from Sako and Remingtons to Howas by the professional shooters started and has not really stopped. My Weatherby Vanguard shoots better than me .. ;)

rcnpthfndr...good to see you online again mate..!!

it is the 24 " barrel on a ramline stock. I bought it as a barreled action back when I had my FFL. I have the trigger set @ around 2 pounds but my shooting is geting worse with age.

Mine is actually a replacement from howa. I was having all sorts of troubles with one in 7-08 that when I sent it back I asked if I could swap out rifles and I had them send me one in 308 with the 20in HB in one of those houge synthetic stocks.

I do know one thing howa has great customer service.

I have a Howa .308 HB. I put a Boyds heavy laminated stock on it. Shoots like a DREAM!!! Enjoy yours.............

I'll have to take a look at boyds stocks and see what they have.
