I have not shot her at distance yet, but at 100 yards, this rifle is a same hole gun.
- She really likes 62.5 gr of H1000.
- All cases are full sized with Shoulders bumped back .010" compared to fireform brass (measured with Hornady Comparator). I could go lower, but it does not improve accuracy, however, extraction of cases do suffer when bumping shoulders back to only .005" or less.
- Bullet is seated to .005" off the lands (approx 3.085" COAL)

Suggestion 1: Paint it so it's not a hideous pimp gun.

Suggestion 2: Take a 5-in-1 and scrape that gay-ass sticker off of it.

Suggestion 3: If you must have gay-ass stickers, I suggest these...

Just posting a pic of my build. However, I do know all you mommies love to get all up in my business and dictate how I live my life and how I should spend my money. Then when I don't agree and I do a little self promotion, all you mommies get your panties in a bunch because the way I live my life seems to affect your life personally. Then it turns into a ECR1 Haterfest. Yeahhhh!

Please discuss...

That's cool! The 12 year olds I know don't like action figures. They want to go hunting, play organized sports, golf, gun range, motocross, etc... As for me, been there, done that.

I even got to play Army in the US Army for 4 years, and got to play road racing motorcycles against AMA racers, and also got to play Electrical Engineer when I got my BSEE.

Glad I will have a buddy to play action figures with!! But I would rather you do it without getting a stroke though. When are you free?

Speakin' of which, this is another example of having an expensive, attenuated cartridge in the same action which could have taken a more powerful cartridge--in this case, the 7 Mag.

It also has a spiked bayonet, (Man it would suck getting stabbed one of those....slow death anyone).

That antique cannon will kill just as dead as the 7mm saum. A much better choice. Ammo is dirt cheap too. Needs rails though
to be a true platform, muzzle break too.

It could be that the reason he gravitates to the weaker cartridges in a class is because he prefers more of a rainbow trajectory.

8 mag takes a magnum action length. It's about 1/3 inch longer than the "standard" magnums like the 7 Rem and the 300 Win.

I guess you don't believe in the rule "shoot what you like?"

The 7SAUM has been around a long time and lots of infor out there for it. I like it because it is cheaper to shoot than the 50BMG, and it's more accurate too. Not just that, but I have a buddy that shoots it so I can always have access to powders, cases, and primers when I get low. Are these not good reasons?

How do the ballistics of 7.62x63 'Merican stack up to Cartman's 7mm MOUS round?

Being as this 7.62 x 63 American was actually built by its owner, gets fired periodically, and has the spiritual power of blue steel and American Walnut, it transcends ballistics.
It has such spirit of heat and love that it has not been required to attend bibel camp.

It has the aura that prevents reflections of mere mortals in its personal photographs.

Those that dare to sneer at such a form as this will soon find the error in their ways, and renounce their worship of the false tactical gods.

How do the ballistics of 7.62x63 'Merican stack up to Cartman's 7mm MOUS round?

Well it's kind of like this

260 Remington (6.5x55) 139 Lapua @ 2800 FPS, estimated useful barrel life 2k to 3k rounds range.

The 6.5x55AI currently holds the 1000 yard 5 shot group record at < 4.5"

7mm-08 162 Gr A-Max @ 2725 FPS, estimated useful barrel life 3.5K to 4.5 K rounds range.

7mm SAUM 180 Gr Berger LRBT @ 2900 FPS, estimated useful barrel life 1.5K to 2.5K rounds range.

30'06 (7.62x63) 168 Gr @ 2900 FPS. estimated useful barrel life 2.5K to 3.5K rounds range.

Looks like he'll be buying plenty of barrels if he is going to be doing any shooting.

All davis wore pajamas at every game. Adults who follow and support "professional sports" like basball football basketball ect is one of the reasons this country is failing and becoming a welfare world. Teach your kids that getting multi million dollar contracts for playing a game is more important then building a tractor, growing food ect. I dont blame the players. .its the fanbase supporting it.

You could not of picked a better team and fanbase to showcase the idiocracy of sports and their fan base then "Raider Nation".

So where's the license to practice? Without it you are not recognized as a professional, which means you're in training, working under the auspices of someone who is licensed. You are not be authorized to pass on anything with respect to the practice of engineering, design adequacy, standard compliance, methodology or approach, nor would you be allowed to testify as an expert witness. Besides, NRS Chapter 625 (a) (3), and I quote, 'It is unlawful for any person not properly licensed to employ, use or cause to be used the term “engineer,” “engineering” or “engineered” or any combination, variation or abbreviation thereof as a professional or commercial identification, representation, claim, asset or means of advantage or benefit without disclosing that the person is not qualified, registered or licensed to practice professional engineering in this state.'

Umm... 7 saum ain't new or trendy. It's a failed commercial cartridge, precisely because the WSM and the standard belted 7 RemMag outperform it.

Yes and no. The SAUM is apparently a much more forgiving round, having better barrel life and in the 6.5 wildcat version, is a bitching LR round. George Gardner from GAP shoots one in precision rifle comps and pretty much beats most everyone's ass with it. Winchester got to the party first with more rifles and more ammo.

As history traditionally shows, the first guy to cross the line usually wins. Remington has had a history of new products and especially new rounds never fulfilling their potential, even when they were superior. For exhibit A, I would like to introduce the .244/6mm Remington which is ballistically superior to the .243, easier to reload for and based off of the classic 7mm Mauser case but due entirely to a series of mis-steps by Remington in the early days, it never became as popular as the .243 and still isn't.

I had the same question; why use a round specifically intended for SA in a LA?

I had and have interest in the SAUM precisely because it will fit in a .308 length mag and I want a semi in that caliber just for shits and giggles. DPMS and Armalite chambered a few of their .308's in .300 SAUM back in the day and I think it would be kick ass to have that much horsepower in a semi.

Here's some info on the 6.5 SAUM:

http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-reloading/195161-care-feeding-gap-6-5-saum.html

http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-bolt-action-rifles/185807-new-gap-extreme-hunter-6-5-saum.html

And yes, the rifle in question while undoubtedly top shelf is teh gay in it's current format but hey, it just cements what we already knew about it's owner.....:rofl::tongue::tongue:

What License to I need? I am just talking about obtaining a BSEE. I do not work in an industry where Government license for cutting hair is needed.

They don't care what you think about the 7mm SAUM. There mind is already made up.

Now it's time to spread some gun guy hate!

I understand this old gun guy forum. Most people use sex or sports as a vent.

However old gun guys are too old to even stand up, and to old to get IT up, so what they do is they hate on others so they themselves can vent and feel like they accomplished something. every little thing that others do bothers the old gun guy. If old gun guy are not complaining or hating on one thing, it will always be something else.

old guys on gun forums lives are so miserable, that they have to hate on others and drag them down too so everyone can be miserable with the old gun guy! :D

What License to I need? I am just talking about obtaining a BSEE. I do not work in an industry where Government license for cutting hair is needed.

Work is plentiful in my field of specialty. No one I work with has any type of license. We all have Degrees and certification, but no license.

According to the laws of your state you need a license to identify yourself as an engineer as part of your line of work or profession unless you include a disclaimer that you are not competent to perform engineering work. This is why you would need one.

Note that you DO NOT need an engineering degree, just a license. Ought to be a piece of cake for someone who is awesome.

I'm thinking that if you printed a statement on the back of your business cards containing a warning that you are not competent to supply engineering services that this would be satisfactory. I'd call and ask though, they may prefer this to be on the front.

I read the statute end to end and it doesn't say anything about an exemption if you're working for a company, only that you have to be apprenticing under a real engineer, and that you cannot advertise yourself as being one unless and until you are licensed.

Understand that all engineers work for companies for reasons of liability, doesn't mean you don't have to be registered. You do. Again, unless you include a statement to the effect that you are not competent or authorized to perform engineering work. Straight out of NV state code.

Thanks for worrying about me and my peers, but we will be OK calling ourselves Engineers.

My University gave me my degree, not me. They are are the one that put in print "Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering".

My work gives me my title, they are the one that puts in print "Senior Systems Engineer", I did not do that, they did.

Also, I work with people more senior than me who are not even Degreed! But yet they are some of the brightest coders, programmers, and engineers that I know.

Also it seems you live in an old antiquated world where you think PE has much relevancy. PE for Software Engineering started only last year, and there are endless complaints of what is the purpose? Well there is no purpose!

Feel free to report my me, my coworkers, my university, and my company to to whomever it is you need to report.

1. Fairly certain that is the case. Cluelessness can be fairly defined as having no idea what you don't know. You continue to exhibit this trait, which calls into question your ability to learn from your mistakes. Because of this you would likely make a poor engineer.

2. Confirmation of the cluelessness we were certain was there. Old, antiquated world eh? Then why perchance are they establishing new licensing disciplines, eh? Methinks though doth protest a bit too much .. see comment #1.

1) Clueless
I think it is you that is clueless. You see to still be living in the 1800's where all the Engineer had to do is take measurement and use Static Calculus to make sure the structure holds up. Did someone tell you yet this is 2013?

2) Engineer
I don't care what the company calls me, or the degree says.
Like I said, my company calls me a "Systems Engineer". They call me this, not I call it myself. My Degree says "Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineer". Again, the University called it this, not me. I could care less what the University or the Company calls it as long as I get paid.

3) Will I or my company go to jail?
If jail time is threatened because 99% of Real Engineers do not have PEs and call themselves Engineers, then I would recommend my company and my university to take out the Engineering.

2) PE for Software Engineers
Look up PE for Software Engineers, see how far that got along. It is almost non-existence

4) PE not needed
PE is a lame certification in the High Tech World. PE not needed in high tech for Hardware Microchip Design nor Software
I work for and have worked for big time Players in the High Tech Industry. In no time did anyone ever mention a PE was needed. Been to countless job interviews and NOT 1 of them asked for a PE. Even in the job description none of the jobs I am interested in has PE requirements.

5) certification for products.
In the High Technology Industry, Products and Processes are certified, not people. The technology is too complex for one person to know it. Certifying people is outdated. How are you going to certify robots?

Most of the products in the High Tech world are multi layered.
- You have people who design the base chip and source code.
- you have the chip maker
- VendorD wants to make a product that does A, B, and C. VendorD then realize he has to buy chip-sets F, G, H to accomplish this.
- Now we are up to 4 companies for a single product
- But we are not done, we need a hardware integrating company to build the board.
- Then there are the actual physical chip makers too (not chip designers)
- Then there is the manufacturing company
- Then there is all the supporting SW and Hardware needed.

When making products, we try our best to make sure our products conforms to RFCs, IEEE Standards, and ITU standards. If they do not, we will say something like "we are not RFC 2301 compliant", but yet still sell the product.

6) I just emailed my entire team telling them we are not allowed to call ourselves Engineers because Bubba said so... still waiting on an answer.

That is true, anyone can be called an Engineer, but not anyone can get a BSEE. It takes pure logic and mathematical skills to get a BSEE, which few people have.

Also anyone can get a PE, they are a dime a dozen. Just because someone has a PE does not mean he is a real Engineer either. Some PEs do not even have Engineering Degrees. Most PEs are just overpaid Secrataries.

PE is a lame Govt certification that means nothing, that is why no company in the High Tech Fields require it.

I can name a dozen.. When I worked my first job out of college, everyone at a Underwriters Laboratories had a PE. I soon left that place after 6 months to be around real Engineers.

It still seems you have no clue what I do or what a PE even means. Most people in High Tech knows it is useless... However, I am open to it, and if one day it ever becomes useful I will be open to getting one. However, as of now I have bigger fishes to fry.

Please discuss why you think a PE is so useful, because it seems to me you do not even have a job.

The fact that you don't want to agree with certain people, even if you don't know their viewpoints, is a very important piece of data in my experiment. It also indicates that you might want to engage the services of a professional to discuss that standard for self harm, but it is your life.

For me it is a fad round. But then again, all rounds are pretty much a fad round. Any round can be an awesome round if given love and time.

A combination of short and fat cases, long skinny bullets with high bc, and longer OAL is what is in style now. Berger 180gr VLDs have a .684 BC! To take advantage of this long round, a longer OAL is needed so therefore, that is why the 7 "Short Action UM" is most of the time shot from a long action.

The 7SAUM and 7WSM (basically the same round) both have been around for awhile now, 10+ years, but each year since it's introduction, it has getting more and more popular. The last 3 years it has really taken off. Right now brass is very very hard to get, and bullets are only hard to get.

Umm... 7 saum ain't new or trendy. It's a failed commercial cartridge, precisely because the WSM and the standard belted 7 RemMag outperform it.

We KNOW, you are OUR FAVORITE SOCCER MOM that knows all.

I myself do not shoot ELR enough experience the benefits of short and fat cases like the .260 Remington, 6.5 Grendel, or the 7SAUM... However, all the match shooters seem to be moving towards that way.

Unless I have hardcore evidence why they are wrong, there is no reason for me to debate them. I am not going to take the time to play around with these rounds, all I am going to do is pick a caliber and run with it.

I wanted 7mm because I like high BC of the Berger VLD bullets, I could have gun 7mm Magnum, but I chose the 7mm SAUM because I had to pick one... and the SAUM is getting more and more popular.

Also, my buddy, and about 5 of his buddies also shoot the 7SAUM. My buddy also has the Reamer for the 7mm SAUM, and load data for it, and much loading components for the 7mmSAUM, so if I need anything for my gun, I can just get it from him.
