For the record, this example of COLT goodness does not belong to me.

That is a COLT 1911. It can pull double duty. Besides, I didn't know that I had enemies here. Thank you for the heads up.

W.E.G. has it right - I have a LOT of "pretty guns" - I'm not taking any of them to war unless I have no choice... I have plenty of UGLY guns more suited for that:D. I'd take my PC9111 into a fight LONG before the pistol that HBR posted...as pretty as she is - the sites are shit.

I have lots of Colts, and none of them look that nice. They may have at one time, but I was not born yet.:|

Oh my, that's an old one. That hammer, the safety, the trigger, and my favorite, the flat mainspring housing.

What a LOVELY hot blue job it sports!

I get sick every time I see a nice blue Colt .45 Auto.

It reminds me of the beautiful NIB 70 Series Gold Cup I had for a few years. I sold it. Why? I must have been temporarily insane.

If you like it that's OK with me. But if I saw one like that at a gunshow. I wouldn't give it a second look. I like late war weapons. You know "Last Ditch" guns. You know the kind you don't worry about. I would be paranoid about one that looked that nice. You know want keep it in a glass case and not let anybody handle it.

Sights are over-rated for a defensive piece. Might cause one to actually take aim when there should already be two rounds air-mailed to a hooligan's vitals. If I need sights I probably need a REALLY good lawyer.

HBR, I have built a couple that would rival that Beauty, hrs of polishing so it looked like chrome before the Bluing. Both guns were Not mine, but they paid well for the spit shine. :)

B - unless they are 3 feet away you NEED sights, those .45's only hold 7 rounds unless you go rogue - then it's only 10 - and a pistol ain't much of a "man stopper" if said man is motivated... shot placement is EVERYTHING. I've been shot a couple of times, extremities don't count - they hurt after the fact - but if you are MOTIVATED (rage or drugs) - you want to be putting two in the heart and one in the brainpan if you want to stop someone intent on killing you.

Boy, they do not get any sweeter looking than that. Not too many of that High Finish quality are built these days.
