Sarco is selling these Daewoo DP 51High Power 3 it looks like they have good reviews at Sarco. Anyone have any experience with one of these? I did a search here but didn't find anything, thanks in advance.

You can disregard & delete this thread unless someone doesn't mind answering outside the Daewoo specific area I didn't even see the Daewoo specific area until it was to late, thanks.

Not sure when those were made, but I have a DP51C (for Compact) that was my first ever firearm purchase back in 1998. I bought it specifically for the Tri-Fire trigger and I really like it. It is accurate as I can be. I had a little issue with ejecting, but I took the ejector out and cleaned behind it and it has done fine since.

If you aren't talking about the rifles, the Daewoo section doesn't get much action. You can look through there and see some threads on pistols, but none seem to go too far.

For comparison, here is what mine looks like (to save a net search).

Thanks for the reply and the pic C-ya appreciate it. I did a search in the Daewoo section and found a little info on them but not much. I'm just about ready to cancel my order to Enterprise and buy a DP 51, last I looked at Sarco's web site you had to call on the phone to order a pistol you couldn't do it on line.

I've got one. Picked it up on a whim for $180. It's been really reliable and seems like a quality piece. I'd definetly buy another if I saw one cheap enough.

How long ago did you buy it HF and who did you buy it off of ? Sarco's up to $275 now they just raised it from $249 they said it was a new shipment that was the reason for the increase.

It was from a gunshop in Michigan, just last year. Nobody there knew much about it, so they put a low price on it just to get it out the door. I've also had good luck around here with Chinese firearms, nobody likes them because of the made in China label, but I know better.

Even at the Sarco price, I think it's a good deal.

Yeah I was reading the reviews of it on the Sarco web site and they were mostly all good. You did real good for what you paid.

Are the magazines proprietary?

The 9mm mags are basically S&W 59 series mags. The S&W mags hang out of the magwell by 1/8" or so but they work fine.

Also, anybody looking to spend some serious $$$ on a slightly more modern version of the DP51 would do well to look here: http://www.lionheartindustries.com/firearms

I'm not affiliated in any way, but I think they look cool .:]

Those are some fine looking pieces just a tad more than what I want to spend. So are these built on a DP 51 or are these new from the ground up?

Well from what i understand they're new production by Daewoo in Korea, but modernized a bit. It looks like they've added some stuff like the forward cocking serrations on the slide, the rail on the frame and I do like the cerakote finishes. I'd love the opportunity to try one out.

I've owned 2 DP51s in the past. Reliable, solid pistols. The Tri-Action does have a slightly funky (IMO) link exposed on the rt. side, but no big deal really.
They are Korean military issue. I bought MecGar S&W 59 series 15 rd. mags for the second one I had. Worked great. Didn't sell them because of any problems, just like to horse trade too much. As usual, I wish I had kept the last one.

Thanks for the input Powderfinger that's good to know. I've been looking at several different pistols that Sarco sells FEG , Star & that Argentine Colt I think its called Systema Colt.

I just noticed you mentioned in the OP a Daewoo DP 51High Power 3
I assume you mean the Daewoo DP51 Tri-Action like in the link.

The first one I had was a Kimber import. I figured they would not put their name on sub-par pistols.
The only drawback IMO is finding parts now days if you were to need them and they have average service pistol accuracy from reviews I've read. I'm no pistolero, but they shot well enough for my needs.
