Hi All
I have a couple of M48 Mausers that I bought a few years back. They both had bad bores on them but at the price I couldn't pass them up. I picked up a pair of Norwegian 7.62 Nato barrels to have put on them. Thing is I don't know anyone that can do the work. I need to have the barrels installed and finish reamed. Sight blocks soldered on and the whole works re-finished in a flat blue. Anyone know a smith that can do this at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Gander Mountains charge $80 to remove a barrel from a large ring mauser. Install is easy!

Re barreling a Mauser is Gravy work for most gunsmiths

Check on Gunbroker - use search word Sniper - there is a company that does rebarrels & scope mounts.

Sledgehammer did 3 of mine, with the Norwegian 7.62 barrels. Edit; He's in Texas too.

I have removed a couple barrels from M48 to have rebarreled. I think they are a little different then the standard large ring Mauser. The barrels had a small step around the chamber due to the receiver being a shorter then the standard Mauser 98. Contact ER Shaw in Pittsburgh Pa.

I had them build me a 358 Winchester on an M48. Did a very nice job but not cheap. Made a big mistake when I sold that rifle.
