It would help to know what kind of build you intend, a shooter or a target gun?

Brownell's has several offerings worth a look. Unless you already have a top half, I'd recommend buying a "fitted frame and slide".

STI is another that sells frames etc.

Remsport 1911 Frames are Forged and you can get a custom one for $180. Thats who i went through. They do a lot of work for custom builders.

Sarco!!!!!!!!!I bought 2, 1 a dedicated lower for a kimber .22 conversion and the 2nd I built up for a complete upper from a springfield complete uppper . @ $99 each even though they were made in the philppines they went together like an erector set, all pins lined up, all parts droped right in.niether bobbled once.
for the money its all that a RIA is ,,, even better.
