I had a M2 (RIA if I remember) with the dovetail rear site for a deployment. Screwed around with a couple optics but could never find a suitable base that would fit. It looked like one of the old telescopic sights from a Vulcan AA gun would have fit but we turned all those in years ago. Optic options were very slim in theatre. I also would like to know what base/optic would fit.

Saw a custom mount with a EOTECH... seemed to work. Thought about it and hit google and the above mount is what I found.

not exactly what i saw before, but close. the one i saw used the dovetail mount which i have @ the right of my rear sight & it was a large yellow lensed halographic style sight. we're on the right track. i need to start bookmarking things more often.

Tom over at KMP makes a scope mount that fits in the original dove tail.

ok, got it bookmarked. looks like a basic picatinny top. i like that, from there i should be able to go almost any optics, i'd still like any input from anyone who's had a scope OR sight on an M2. the one he shows looks a little tacky, but for all general purposes i suppose any quality scope would probably work to get you sighted on the tripod when locked in place with t & e. i think a halographic / eo tech would be a little more user friendly when the gun is in free swing mode. cant imagine trying to put my eye close to a scope on the 50 while fireing in full auto !

It is very common to see the SF deployed M2QCBs fitted with both eotechs and Trijicon sights out here. The Trijicon appeared, as I recall, early in the Iraq war on the M2s in the SAS 6x6 LRRPVs. For a thumper like the M2 the Trijicon does seem to make a great deal of sense.

well it is fun to shoot, but i will share this with ya . the 50 is super heavy & very cumbersom to move around to fire at different targets. it almost has to be locked in place on a tripod with the T&E . the cradel mount i have it on is nice for swinging the gun around right to left or up & down but trying to keep bullets on target is difficult. UNLESS, your target is a building or something BIG. the M60 on the other hand is fairly mobile & easy to move around ( even while still fireing ). trying to hit a moving man sized target with the 50 at 200 yards, or even 100 yards will be a challenge but with the 60 it's a peice of cake ! now dont get me wrong, the guy being shot at by the 50 will probably lose control of all bodily functions just from the noise, concussion & sheer horror of those rounds sailing past him. every weapon has it's place, the M60 is my favorite but if you wanna kill a car , truck or building ma deuce is the weapon of choice !

An 82A1 solves a lot or those problems - not FA but WAY more portable:cool:

thanks for posting that, a friend just picked up an fnc & wants to buy a registered sear to convert it to full auto. i'm sure he'll like the video of the fnc with the drum. i think with the scope on the M2 i'll have to do just like the guy in the video. fire short burst's then check your sight picture again. the good part is that if you're sighted in right the first burst should take care of business !
