Got a Colt SAA 2nd Gen Mid-range serial. Original box(rough but original) with a letter of authenticity from Colt. Wondering if there is any interest in these forums or if I should put her on the GunBroker.. Its a 45LC about 80%.

Colt produced tens of thousands of the 2nd Gen SAA. I have one that was made in 1961 that was priced at $125 NIB back then. Colt made a lot of the commenrative models during the 2nd gen era and there are lots of them out there. Prices on 2nd gen SAA's are all over the place. It all comes down to condition, finish type, caliber, barrel length, and grips.

My 2nd gen is a .45 Colt caliber with a 7.5 inch barrel. Blue finish including the frame. Walnut grips with gold medallion. In perfect condition with the original box. It might fetch $1000 max IMHO. What lowers it's value is the all blue finish. If it had the color case hardened frame it would be worth more.

The cowboy shooter crowd is always looking for genuine Colt SAA's in the common calibers. A SAA in .45 Colt is the most common model and is usually the most desired by the CAS bunch. You haven't posted any details about the finish, barrel length, or grips. As I stated above these details can make a big difference in the value.

BTW, there is no such cartridge as the .45 LC. It is the .45 Colt. I have yet to see a Colt revolver of any model ever marked as such. Ditto S&W's and Rugers. Even my Winchester 94 Angle Eject was marked .45 Colt. Just one of my pet peeves....

And so it goes.

You will likely get a higher price on a gun auction site like Gun Broker. FALFilers tend to be, well, "thrifty" as a group.

Letter from Colt states .45 Long Colt... It is 5 1/2 inch Blue with case hardened frame, rubber grips, and the pictures tell the rest. I know the files are "thrifty" not looking to get rich, I am just gauging interest here before I put up an ad in the marketplace.

Oh, there's INTEREST alright!

I'd like to buy it, would look so nice next to my 2nd Gen 4 5/8" :D

I don't have an idea of their value, just somewhere north of a grand, afaik. Sorta takes all the fun out of owning one for shooting purposes. Let us know if you come up with a price you'd be happy with?

.45 "Long Colt" & .45 "Short Colt"
Both are marked .45 Colt.

I was thinking $1500 was a fair price for the package?
