i am looking to buy a glock chambered in .45acp. i was seriously considering a Glock 30sf but now i am wondering if i should opt for the 30s model. i understand it has a slimmer slide, but i am wondering if it performs the same. i have heard conflicting reports about recoil ect. i was wondering if there is anyone here that might be able to shed some light on the subject to help me better define these two guns. thanks.

If you're buying it as a carry gun I recommend the 36.

+1

I found trying to conceal my 30 was just as difficult as my 21 due to the grip size...The 36 is a very nice concealable package. I prefer it over my Detonics Combat master.

I bought the 30s because I can use mags from my model 21 Gen4. I highly recommend the 30s. It has the 36 slide, nice option but also the short frame. I thought the recoil would be a little stout, being a compact 45, but it is very manageable. I would recommend it over the 36 due to it 10 round capacity. I have fired the 36 and find the 30s to be easier to handle. If you can find a 30s buy it. The shop I bought mime from in February will not have anymore until September.

I own a G30 and it is a sweet heart. I converted it to a 10mm and that is mostly what I shoot. Would the slim slide version handle that conversion? The 30 is just an enjoyable gun to shoot in either caliber. I was really surprised that I liked any Glock. I used to turn my nose up at them. Now I am thinking about a 460 Rowland conversion for the 30.

Found this with a simple search: "difference between glock 30s and 30sf"

"The 30s uses the thinner 36 slide. The SF gives you a shorter backstrap, distance to trigger."

I own a 30 and a 36. If you're buying it as a carry gun I recommend the 36.
As a big fan of 45ACP glocks i have the 36 ,30 and 21, the extra weight and grip thickness dont make the 30 or 30s or 30sf a better carry over the 36. Perhaps the only advantage of the 30S is you can use the G36/G19 leather so you can save a bit of money there.
