This beautiful Model 66, I let it slip through my fingers vacillating between this and a '68 Hi-Power. Turned out the '68 was a little too much money for the condition it was in. When I went back for this one, it was G-O-N-E.

Item Description:
WTS my Stainless S&W 66-1 357 mag. 4" barrel 6 shot. Orginal owner said he only shot 6 rds though it, and I have not shot it yet. The bore is excellent, and the cylinder locks up super tight. Must be ftf sale and must have cpl or pp and id. Cash is best but will also trade for a glock 30 sf or g36 or a sig 238 and cash on your end but will look at all trade offers.

Truely sad. What were they asking for the 66?

$700. I probably could've offered $650 and got it.

K frame S&Ws are not selling cheap these days, especially P&R.
For good reason, too. They are great guns.

Quite possibly the most versatile and finest revolver made by S&W.

Smiths are getting crazy high. I have a few 19s, one 6" 66-1, an odd snub 686+, a smattering of N frames, and some old .32s & .38s & stuff and although I like them fine none of them are $650 guns to me, at least I would not pay that.;) I saw what Mountain Guns were going for on GB the other day and almost (almost, I say) went home and put my ASNIB .45 Colt Mountain Gun up for sale. It is nice but not for the knid of money guys seem to be willing to pay. But then I did give really serious consideration to paying North of a thousand for a 610 before I came to my senses!

Guns are like streetcars ah busses. There will always be another one along in 30 minutes or so.

There are somewhere around 200 to 300 million of them in the country. Your bound to trip into one you like every now and then. The rest is up to you.

I thought you missed out on a good deal until I saw your post about the price of the gun. For $700, I would have passed it up too. I have at least one of every Smith frame size; J, K, L, and N frames (and now that I think about it, I have more N and L frames than anything else), and I don't think I paid more than $300 for any of them. I like Model 19's and 66's, and would like to have one at some point, but I wouldn't pay $700 for it.

I think you'll find a better deal if you keep looking. Patience will pay off.

It happens, that is why If its something I want then I go for it. I have missed to many over the years going home to think about it.
