Are there any transferable machineguns chambered for 7.62 x 54R?...
or any that can be converted?

You could get a 1919a4 and use the barrelxchange's conversion kit:

The Russian Maxim was originally chambered for the 7.62x54Rmm caliber. German Maxims have been converted to the 7.62x54Rmm caliber.

Maxims and 1919s, as mentioned, are the only major ones I know of. Both can be had in a variety of calibers both are big cool behemoths!

any 303 British gun can be converted.
some other guns in 8mm label can be converted based on their strenght as the 54r is more powerful.

The absolute baddest of the bad would be a PKM if you could find one.

The problem with Brens is the lack of good magazines. Can't load more than a couple of rounds into a .303 mag. The ZB39 mags do a little better; supposedly something like 25rds with a follower modification and extra spring in the mag, but it's still not a great answer. The rest of the conversion is as simple as running a reamer into the chamber and replacing the bolt with a ZB39 bolt. I have all the parts but still have a good supply of .303.

Maxims or the Brownings are the best/easiest/cheapest options. You're looking at $30-40k for a Bren or DP minimum.

Are there any transferrable PKMs? I have 2 but they are posties.

Yes on the DP28 and the SG43. I had one guy shit his pants when I found an SG 43 bolt in a bin of Russian Maxim parts I'd bought - he lost his SG 43 bolt in shipping years ago and his multi-thousand dollar machinegun was worthless without it - so I gave it to him.

Colt Model of 1918

Potato Digger

Some were made for the Russians by Marlin and later bought back for our use in WWI.

They use 1919 belts and run like stink on surplus ammo.

Plus they sound like a WWI machine gun. Make the hair stand up on the back of your neck.

I have an SG43 kit all cut up.

Sooner or later it will be a semi I guess.

These look like 7.62x54R rounds to me, which means that I now want a Vickers in this caliber VERY MUCH!

Then I can be like this guy, only without the beard, 'cuz I can't grow one... Yeah, I know it's a Maxim, too...

My RPKS-74 is boring. There is so little recoil that it's like running a sewing machine. The PKMs, in contrast, have enough bouncing about to be a more active experience.

GCA 86 was bad, but a supreme court that allowed the NFA int he first place, and then had a 5-4 in Keller just to say "yeah, the 2A means exactly what is says'". The 4 dissenting clowns should have been impeached.

I was told there are 2 transferable PKM's, I am not sure if that number is accurate, but the person is very knows a lot about title II firearms and it was right before I fired RJ's PKM. It is on my to do list when I finish upgrading to an 07/02.
