Hey guys,

by the end of August I bought a NIB Ruger 10-22 Takedown.

Today, as I had some time to play, I took it out for the 2nd time to an indoor range.

Ok, my little Ruger is set up with a Bushnell TRS red dot sight, which I like lots. I use the rail that came with the gun.

The last time I sent some CCI Minimags downrange, this time I used Federal's 525 Champion value pack, 36gr copper plated HP.

Except for a few ammo-related jams ( FTE ) I had a fun time sending about 300+ rounds downrange.

The Ruger with the red dot is a set-up for quick work, not so much for accuracy, but provided I did my part, the gun and ammo got me some tight groups.

I also tested 3 of the Ruger BX-25 mags, which performed flawlessly.

Back at home, I took the TD apart, and I like it lots for the ease of cleaning.

You can clean the barrel / front stock as one unit, and the rear stock with the receiver as another.

Today I also took the receiver out of the rear stock and took out the bolt carrier.

The procedure is simple and straightforward ( comes to mind : " so easy a caveman could do it " ) .

Reassembly is also simple and straightforward.

Ideas for the future : I wish that Ruger would make a 10-22 Magnum Takedown.

That would float my boat.

Well, NewFNL1A1,

maybe we will get to see that some day.

This also might be a nice idea for Volquartzen or Magnum Research.

I strongly doubt that the .22WMRF action will fit into the existing stock of the Ruger 10-22 TD.

So far I've got pretty good results with CCI minimags and Federal's 525 VP.

One of these days I might just try some hotter stuff.

Has anybody ever tried Winchester M-22 ?

Ok, not to sound like writing the ad,

but Ruger's 10-22 TD is so far the best ( IMHO ) model of their 10-22 series.

I really like the 22 mag. Ruger used to offer the 10-22 in mag....probably could reintroduce it easy but maybe it didn't sell. Our 22 mags are among the last rifles I would get rid of. Love that round and have seen my Dad use it nail turkeys at 90 yards with ease.

How about we bombard Ruger with emails to get the 10-22 Mag back in production ?

I sell the 10/22 TD on the weekends. My only question is how well it would handle being slung up all the time in an appleseed shoot. I really like the design.

I'd like to see Ruger offer the 10/22 TD with a threaded barrel like the 10/22 Tactacial. That way I could mount my suppressor can on it! ;-)

Threading a barrel is something that every other gunsmith can do.

Btw, I got an email back from Ruger, stating that they are pretty interested to know what kind of suggestions their customers have, and they forwarded my email to their Marketing Dept.

However, if Ruger threaded it like their 10/22 tactical I wouldn't have to pay a gunsmith to threaded it!

I have the 10/22 Tactical, and it works just fine with two of my reg. suppresor cans!

NewFNL1A1,

I thought so too.
