No joke, wildfire, New Years Day 2006. Took everything but the metal tractor shed.

4-5000 rds of ammo and 150+ knives (a collection I started in the 60's). Here are some of the bigger ones I could find. Most of the pocket knives were not found, too much debris. Some ammo cans are in the background.

I could not keep those pictures around, it would hurt too much.

J'adore single action!

The most accurate centerfire handgun I own.
Also my favorite handgun... ever, been shooting the snot out of it for 10+ years.
Seriously, what feels better in your hand than a 1st gen SAA? (We are talking guns here, metal.. boys) Not to mention the ease of reloading .45 Colt.

An AWA 1st gen Clone (the one Colt sued them for ) with Turnbull and other custom work...

April of last year I went to a local gunshow with some money stuffed into my jeans looking for something new and different to buy. Found a NIB Colt 3rd gen SAA with the 4 3/4 inch barrel in .45. Color case hardened frame and blued barrel, cylinder, and grip straps. It was priced at $1100 firm by a private seller. In Indiana you can sell your privately owned firearms at a gunshow without any paperwork......

I pulled eleven Ben Franklins out of my pocket and walked out with it. The following Wednesday I went to my club range with the SAA and a box of handloaded ammo. The RCBS#45255 SWC over 7.0 grs of Win #231 in Winchester cases. This load duplicates the Winchester factory load per my chronograph.

I set up a 25 yard target center and from 30 feet I fired the first shot. The fixes sights were dead on with the bullet going through the X ring. All five shots were centered on the X ring in a nice tight group. So I had found a new SAA that could put them to point of aim. Stepped back to 50 feet and fired five more shots at the same target. The group opened up a bit but all shots were inside of the ten ring. This is the same kind of accuracy that I expect and get from my Ruger Blackhawks. So anyone who sez that a SAA can't shoot accurately is misinformed IMHO.

I have a 2nd gen Colt SAA .45 with the 7 1/2 barrel made in 1961. I wish I could say that it shot as well as the new 3rd gen SAA but it doesn't. At 50 feet it will keep 'em inside of the nine ring if I do my part. But I can't really complain. I traded a single shot Anschutz .22 rifle that had seen better days for it.....

And so it goes.

If you are a man of modest means, it is best not to be drawn into the web of Colt SAA's. It will condemn you to a life of poverty
