Are they as good as the ad and photo?
Just got my C&R on Monday, so a really nice K98 is first on my list.

Hello,
I had one. It was in excellent condition after I cleaned it up a bit. It was a post war manufacture/assembly with a scrubbed receiver. I was surprised at how nice it was after I put a little TLC into it. I bought mine almost 2 years ago though. HTH.
Respectfully,

I believe these are the same guns as offered by FAC, give Harlan a call and ask him to pull a nice one for you (he's a man of few words but he's a nice guy). When I stopped by Samco a couple of weeks ago on a Friday at 4pm I was told they were all locked up -- meanwhile outside there's a fence to a warehouse and one can litterally see tens of pallets with all sorts of rifles stacked! From my treatment as a walk-in customer I'd say their service is pretty shitty. I'll avoid them as much as possible.
If I were you I'd look for a Preduzece 44 as offered by Ellison's and others -- basically a K98 built with German parts after the war, mine was As New, didn't look fired but was covered in heavy, I mean HEAVY, cosmoline. Beautiful gun, definitely a keeper!!!

MG, Harlan is out of the nice ones. Guess I'll try Elliot's and CDNN. Thanks

Don't have any experience with CDNN's, sorry. Note, my stock was not as nice as a German stock (based on a DOT, Czech, gun I used to have), but I'll trade off the little bit rougher wood for the New condition anyday, afterall, it's for shooting. My stock did not have the disc and it came with the older (flat) style buttplate. Throughout the gun there are plenty of waffenampts (sp?).
Good luck finding a nice one guys.

CDNN is out. I sent a k98 back to them because the barrel was heavily pitted, it failed a headspace gage test, and it looked like someone had drilled several holes in the stock. They said they were out so they refunded my money.
