I needed a bound book to keep my C&R stuff in, called RKFFL today. Saw thier ad in SGN. Sheesh, this guy is about two bricks shy of a full load. I just wanted a bound book I could label for my C&R stuff....and I was in kind of a hurry. The guy won't just sell me a bound book and shut the hell up. Yadda Yadda yadda..... he's telling me book I already have for my personal firearms is no good (because he wants to sell me another one)....he's telling me you can only sell 6 personal firearms a year....that a C&R holder, if he sells a gun from his collection, has to sell it for the price he paid for it so he doesn't make a "profit". A regular gun-show commando!! Finally told him to send me the damn package so I could get some more important stuff done than listen to his "expertise" all day! :(
If you need any FFL supplies, I would try elsewhere, unless you have all day and want bad advice.

You can buy and sell as many C&R per year as you want as long as you don't make it a "business". The ATF has a definition for business that is quite easy to live with.

What is the ATF definition of business?

Brownells ( www.brownells.com (http://www.brownells.com) ) has bound books that come without the bovine excrement.
Just FYI!

Basically, you are considered to be in the business of selling firarms if it can be proved that you systematically bought and sold firarms and spent a significant amout of time doing it.
Basically, a high volume with a short turnaround would throw up a flag. Use your discretion, you know when you are "dealing" rather than collecting.
My basic rule is that I buy more than I sell (actually, I don't sell many at all), any that I get rid of were not collectable in my opinion.

Arrrrggghhh!!!! I never thought of checking Brownells! :( :( :( I had to order some stuff from there anyway, too! :(
The way I understand things, you can buy, say three Turk Mausers, decide to keep the best one and sell the other two. That is within the definition of "buying and selling to enhance your collection". ATF is intrested in whether you do the proper record keeping and use your license for it's intended purpose, not the price you sell the guns for.
