Lets say the CMP started offering Springfields for general sale. What would be the most desirable as a shooter?

Now now, lets say they already have announced they are going to be selling them! I heard they have about 45,000 they got in from the army arsenal http://www.odcmp.com/
check thier web site. you can get up to 16 a year one of each type they offer! I know of 6 I need! but want all 16! I think the most desirable would be a low 3,000,000 # remmington 03, not 03a3 only about 25,000 remmington transitional 03's made! jmho :D

The Remington 03 is one of the more collectable items.
The transitional had no finger groves and round sight bases. I have one in original condition that I do not shoot. Came from England but without import marks. Nice guns, essentially Rock Island guns made on the same machinery.

Which manufacturer's guns are considered to be the highest quality? Both for '03's and A3's?
Thanks

My personal preference for shooter (i.e., the one I'm going to order from the CMP) would be any A3, because of the better sight. I don't know enough about the Springfield's to guess on collectability. My only question for a shooter is whether it would be worthwhile to get the C stock, which I understand to be the pistol grip version.

Okay, what kind of demented joke is this? I can't find any info on the CMP website. Please post a link.
Edit. Never mind, found it. http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/m1903.htm
Woohoo! It says that those registered for the 1903 lottery would get first dibs and on the off chance that I might want a 1903, I entered my name in the lottery! Should be getting my letter any time this week!
(Insert Snoopy happy dance here.)
:D :D
I wonder how much a healthy kidney is bringing these days....

The 03A3s were made by Smith Corona and Remington. They are about the same quality.
C stocks were replacement stocks. Most are what were called scant stocks.
Stick with the S stock version for collectability.
