I have a DSA Para lower and carrier sitting around from when I converted a factory DSA STG58 Para to a standard fixed stock rifle. Over time, enough FAL parts have accumulated that I'm tempted to build that lower half into another rifle. Here's the rub: last night I attempted to install an as-new IMBEL bolt into the DSA carrier, and the bolt wouldn't fit. The back of the bolt would not drop into the carrier no matter how I pushed, turned, wiggled, swore etc. The following picture is not my actual carrier, (part of a Google image attributable to T. Mark Graham) but is marked up to show where the interference is occurring.

When I compare the dimensions of the DSA para carrier to both of my standard carriers, the red area on the DSA is visibly closer to the rear of the carrier by +/- 1/16", which does not allow the IMBEL bolt to drop in. The original STG58 bolt will fit in the carrier, so I'm not bashing DSA. I'm assuming the DSA carrier uses a tolerance on the tight end, and wondering if this area on the Para carrier can be machined larger to work with the IMBEL bolt? Or would I be better served by finding an STG bolt to make the Para build go together? I want to use the carrier for a compliance part if possible. Has anyone seen this before, and if so, what was the fix?
