I remember seeing posts on other C&R boards (can't remember which one) recomending a guy [Jim (?) aka Boltman (?)] who cuts and welds bent bolts.

Does anyone have his contact info and know how much he charges? Does anyone have other recomendations?

I am considering getting the forging blocks, heat sink, and heat stop paste from Brownell's.

I don't trust my self enough to cut an weld it myself.

You don't have to cut off the bolt handle. You can just use the bending blocks, lots of heat, big vise, BFH. The lots of grinding & polishing to make it look pretty. If you have only 1 to do, send it out.

Most people like the welded handles now.

here you go... he did a 91/30 for me. 45 bucks and it was back in under a week. Send the whole thing and he will polish it for no charge.. jlbalogh@prodigy.net :)

Thanks.
I think I'll farm one out and try a cut and weld on one myself.

I'd let a professional do that unless you're familiar with nickle steel. Jim R.over on the Gun Boards does alot of it & there's never been a complaint about his work. Or try our own member, Sledgehammer. I don't know if he does that or not. I'm sure he does. But I will send him an email to find out.

Actually, I mean I will try a bend and weld job, detailed on this site I found.

Bend and Weld (http://www.personal.psu.edu/staff/g/s/gsw3/bb/bbbendweld.html)

You should check out his site, he seems to be a true WECSOG master for the Mauser. With all those cheap Turks out there I see a lot of new projects in my future.
