Got a couple of No.1 MKIII enfields today and was wondering how to determine the manufacture date and what some of the other markings mean. These are the first enfields I have bought with my C&R and am curious.

What markings exactly are you wanting to know about? There should be a date on the rifles unless the barrels have seen heavy abuse or it's been blotted out.

Wanting to know about manufacture date. I think that it was field repaired in 48. And it looks like there are flags that are crossed on about every part of the rifle??? There are two K's on the rear of the receiver and a 14 on the right side. No clue what these are either.

Kansas, where did you get them, what are the bores like, and how much?
Note all the markings and post questions at this Lee Enfield forum, they're a helpful bunch: http://www.gunboards.com/forums/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Headlines&BID=20&SID=1397318
