Well, I finally got around to fully cleaning the No.4MK1 I obtained back in 12/01. I completely redid the wood (lower stock assembly and forward upper handguard were both marked "CE1967" and appeared unused), and throughly cleaned metal and bore.

I was ble to determine the M47C is a BSA receiver that was restamped to match the Savage bolt -- most other small parts being Canadian etc.

If you can tell me anything else from the information below, please do so, as I'm curious to learn some more about this gun. Judging from all the Canadian parts it seems whoever FTR'd this had plenty LB parts onhand. Also, who is "CDI Swan VT" (importer) and are they still in business OR when was it likely that they brought in No.4s like this one?

it's intersting trying to get an idea of the history of old rifles.. :)

I found this information:

M47 or M47C:
The war time manufacturers code for Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) located in Shirley and it's other plant located in Small Heath, respectively. Mark found on the buttsocket.

I found it here, you could probably spend more time here and learn a few neat things :)
