Guys,

I want better sling mounting points for my 870. The stamped steel clamp that goes over the barrel and mag extension is total junk. I'm thinking of the GG&G sling loop adapters that go between the mag extension and barrel ring. Any experience or recommendations for other options?

Shotgun currently has speedfeed plastic stock with the shell holder tubes in the buttstock, no pistol grip.

Thanks,
Byron

Been looking for the same for quite some time myself. Don't like the swivel on the side.

Trying to find where I can get the same "Barrel clamp/swivel" that Remy supplies on its Model 870P or "Tac".
Like this;

Tried to find the part on Remy's website, but no luck. May have to resort to an e-mail or phone call.

If you figure out how to pry Remington loose from one of these, let me know?

Well, I got the GG&G parts a few days ago. They'll work fine. I got the style that has 1-1/4" slots rather than the kind with an eye for snapping on an HK style sling. It's currently slung with a 2-point M16 sling but want to try a 3-pt. One think I'll recommend is feeding the front sling buckle with the free end facing away from the firearm to help minimize the chance of fouling the slide. But the GG&G front side loop is long enough to put the sling out of the way of the slide.

I will likely end up with a GG&G. Dealing with Remy is frustrating!

I use one of the gg&g front mounts and a rear strap from specter so I dont have to install any loop or modify the rear and it works good. I have also used one of specters cqb 3 point slings on it and it was good, but bulky. I switched to a standard 2 point sling and like it better.

Nordic Components makes a very nice clamp. It' very solid and versatile. I use one on my Benelli M2.

You might try J.D. at AI&P Tactical and see if he has one of those Remington brackets. I know he has take off extensions from the custom builds he does. Couldn't hurt to try.

I went with the Wilson Combat "sling thing" type rearhttp://shopwilsoncombat.com/Burnsed-Loop-Right-Hand-Rem-870/productinfo/SGBL/

and Magazine tube clamp front http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Sling-Mount-Plate-Side-Rem-870/productinfo/SGSMP-S-870/

I found any of the types that clamp the magazine extension to the barrel both change the point of impact AND move around under recoil. I ended up making a custom sling that can be used a standard two point for most of the time, or a single point for matches that need it, or be easily removed so it doesn't get in the way when I don't need it.

Good link, thanks.

I will be sending him an e-mail. He looks like THE man to go to for reliable Shotty's.

I have a "Speed Feed" stock on my 870 and just added an M16 rear sling mount to it.
This is VERY solid, doesn't rattle and I don't have to worry about it pulling out...EVER.

The front mount is the basic clamp style. I actually like the side mount on the front because the shotgun lays flat across my back without shifting. I have no idea where I got it as it has been on the shotty for over 20 years.
