Hello,

I have a 9x19mm Steyr AUG A3 on the way from Austria. It will be here in a week or two.

Anyone here that knows where to look for a silencer for it??

Anyone that also knows the thread size/pitch on the barrel?? I might end up having to have a silencer custom made if I can't find one to buy.

Best wishes from Sweden,
Anders

Ps......a pic just for fun.

My Steyr AUG A3 .223 and my 10-inch Oberland/Hera AR15.

Steyr AUG 9mm's do not come from the factory with a threaded barrel, at least none that I have ever seen.

My guess is the threading will be metric 13x1 left, although here in the US it is going to be either 1/2x8 or less likely 1/2x36 if it was done by a US gunsmith

When you get it, would you mind posting pics? I would love to see the internals!

The 9mm barrel is threaded........not exactly at the muzzle but ca. 10 cm back on the barrel just forward of the vertical grip.

Look at page two here:

My gun is semi-only but has the same barrel as the FA.....with threads.

Ah, i forgot about that threading. I would not count on threadimg that far back being cocentric to the bore, but pete at pj-steyr.com is very knowledgeable and should be able to tell you.

I would recommend just getting the muzzle threaded to whatever common dupressor threadung you are using.

You're going to have to get one made, the threads are unusual and the entire muzzle brake has to be 'lost' in the can so something special needs to be done.

Is it possible to buy an A3 receiver in Sweden to rebuild an A1 gun?
