I am having problems sighting my Argy kit from Sarco.

At 220 yards (200 meters) it shoots 26” low with the front sight screwed all way down. No I do not have any springs under it, just that little plate with bent ears and yes it is on correctly.

With simple trig. I will need to shorten it .081”. This just does not sound right to me, Am I missing something?

Thanks, Michael

Does it have a tall rear sight , maybe with a white line across it?

If you need a shorter front sight an Israeli one will fit, and Gunthings.com has different sized ones.

Yes It has the the white line. Tall or short, I do not know?

Hi bigugly,

The rear sight with the white line is the TALL rear sight and it is correct for the Argentine FAL with open ear gas block. The issue you have will probably be corrected by using a shorter front sight post. They come in 11 different sizes, the lower the number the shorter the post, like this: -3, -2,-1, 0, 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7. What number do you have? All my Argentine FAL where sighted with front post 0,1,2 and 3.

Palmbeachparts has all the sizes of the front post, Israelis and Argentine are the same.

Same thing. My Sarco kit came with a #3. I replaced it with a -2 Izzy from Palmbeach and was able to sight it in.

This thread should help.

If it has the closed ear gas block, I think I would rather replace the rear sight with the correct one instead of going with a stubbie front sight.

Mine came with a #5, and I replaced it with a #3 and was able to get it sighted in correctly.

If the kit is a FAL IV then it should come with closed ear gas block and the rear sight should be the PARA 150-250 type. If it is a Mix-Match (closed ear gas block and tall rear sight) then the problem you will have is that it will shoot high, .....in this case the problem is that it is shooting 26" low. He just need a shorter front post.

It has an open ear gas block. The front post is not tall enough to take .080-.100" off, I decided I could weld the rear site peep hole and line and then machine a new hole and line then refinish.

Oh, and by the way the front sight only has one dot on the flange.

Buy a shorter front sight to raise the POI (as aezcur already suggested).

One dot is the shortest front sight already - in the closed ear gas block front sights. However, the open ear front sight uses numbers.

"Oh, and by the way the front sight only has one dot on the flange."

Something aint right here. Open ear block should have a front sight post with a number on it, not a dot.

Don't be welding up your rear sight just yet. Can you post a pic?

Well I guess I will have to look at front sight closer and take some pictures.

Hi bigugly,

This is the Argentine tall rear sight,

And this is the Front sight that matches that rear sight style. It is identical to the Israeli. It shoould have a number, from -3 up to 7. No dots. The base of the post is a square and you can see the front sight tool that is needed for the adjustment.

Did someone say, simple trig?

Well I was mistaken about the dot, it has a #2 stamped on the flange and the rear is the sane an the picture that aezcur posted. I will call Palm beach parts today.

Thank you all for the help, Michael

Did you calculate the size you need? Based on what I've read and "simple trig" you'll need a 2.0 mm shorter front sight to correct for 26" drop at 200 yds . The -1 which is 1.95mm shorter than the #2 you currently have is your closest match.

0.006" movement of the sight will move point of impact 1 MOA.

1.95mm = .076" and I calculated it needs to be .081" shorter than what I have I think if I get a -3 than all should be good.
