Anyone here thinking of getting into CAST projectiles for their .50's??
A few years ago, an acquaintance gave me a couple lead bullets that he himself had cast and advised that he had been using these without any problems. Now, I'm sure someone will come along and say that it's totally dangerous to shoot projectiles in a .50 with a muzzle brake if they have gas checks. The fellow that I got these from indicated never had any problem with the gas checks and that they apparently stayed attached to the base for the duration of the bullet flight. I am sure as hell no expert so can't dispute his statement. A couple years ago, the molds and gas checks, bullet sizing die and top punch were readily available and probably still are. If anyone is really truly interested in this stuff, I'll gladly dig out my old info but won't begin do any digging if this subject is of no interest. You guys still working making your super wages can easily buy AMAX or other kinda expensive projectiles but some of us retired old farts don't have the bucks to throw around so cast projectiles are still of some interest. Here's what some look like compared to a 647 grain ball and they are 842 grainers.

Geez, Bob - I'd never even thought of pushing a lead bullet through a .50. Who made the molds, any idea?

Just realized - I'd hafta steal the wheelweights offa all CE's scooters just to cast one bullet! http://i56.tinypic.com/2nhno68.gif

Maker of the mold - WWW.NEIhandtools.com.
Guy who cast my samples indicated that plain old wheel weights were used.

Stay away from ce's scooters as I'm sure they are rigged.:skull:

As an old retired fart myself, and a bullet casrter of long ago, I'd appreciate any loads you may have. I have a stash of linotype I stole from a newspaper print shop back in the '60s...

But dont' strain your bladder over it... :D

or your seminal vesicles...
