Because we watch cops beat the crap out of people who never harmed anyone, and are offten innocent of any crime, every day in this country and do nothing about it.
Since you handle suggects your from AZ, here's a perfect example.....

Well most police don't carry firearms in Europe. If the cops dropped 20 or 30 of them first They could have at least retreated from the mob. I'm not on the cops side on this one they had the guy down if they just handcuffed him and took him away they wouldn't have had a problem. But they had to punch him in front of an angry group of fans. That cop brought the mob down on them. Follow your SOP. wait till he's at the station till you rough him up.

So hunters, you ever been in the middle of a riot? or ever done anything along the lines of a cops job?
Not trying to be snide or confrontational just curious as to your motivation.
What is it that makes you do what you do? I'm always curious about why folks act and feel the way they do is all.

Likewise. ^^^
I have to cheer for the fans, no offense to those here that are or have been officers of the law. I sat between the radios of the city and county cops for over three years and I must say I had no friggen idea!! More power to those of you who keep your cool, I am not certain I could.
That being said, when a Police officer is repeatedly punching some overzealous fan for running around with some sign while 4 more hold the guy down, they should be over-run by the fans and treated with equal force. I found it gratifying to watch them run like the hunted when the throngs came a russhin in on em.
And it proves a theory that I developed some time ago. If the populace of just about any city decided to suddenly rise up against the local law enforcement there would be no hope for the Law enforcers.

for all i know the douchenozzle with the banner elbowed the cop.
besides, considering anything a European soccer fan does to be of sound mind is questionable.

Should have been an "escort off the field". Write a citation and take some money from the guy. But no, tackle to the ground, four on one, got him down with the power of eight restraining, trained hands, and then they gotta' start working on ribs and head to show him who he's dealing with. Likely because of something he said to them. Then, a single onlooker who may have been one of the players, I couldn't tell, saw what was actually the police beating on a prone, controlled person and thought, "Phuck that, not while I'm here", and he ran to stop the beating. Others followed. The cops screwed up, plain and simple. And they had their error brought to their attention in a way that got their attention. I couldn't tell if the violence visited onto the cops was limited to the two who were administering the blows, probably not when a crowd gets riled. Should have been just those two. We used to call that an "on the spot correction".
I agree with Haney - escort off field and citation. He's not a serious criminal - a little common sense please. Makes you wonder what happens when no one is looking.

Physical violence is old hat for the French police. I heard in a lecture once that most police interrogations in Europe begin physically, and go from there. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this was true.
If the crowd did the same thing here in the U.S. there would be a pile of bodies in front of the cops, who would be given citations for bravery following the incident.

I notice that the cop throwing all the punches was the first one to run.

Police are like gangs they always feel tough when they have the odds all stacked in their favor..
I still remember how they ran away when they faced equal force in Waco.
(Waco cult were the bad guys however)

You know why some cops refer to their badge as a "shield"?, cause it shields them from prosecution.
I hate jack booted thug cops and I hate you cops that tolerate them on your force/in your department even worse. You cops want more respect and cooperation, get the bad apples seperated from their guns and badges.
On another note, I could never be a cop. To damn hard. The cops keep catching the scumbags over and over and the sorry ass judges and parole boards keep letting the scum back on the streets because the jails and prisons are so damn full cause the politicians keep wasting our taxpayer money instead of useing it for really important stuff like more prosecutors, more judges, more jails and more prisons. And of course we got this rediculous "war on drugs" so our prisons are full of non violent drug offenders. But we can't abandon the war on drugs cause it is a massive jobs creator. If our drug laws were changed we would not need quite so many cops and prosecutors and judges and parole officers and prison guards.

If ya think about it,this is kind of a dramatization
of how and why, we won our independence.
Oppressive authoriities beating down the citizenry,
citizens get tired of it and revolt.
Names change but history repeats.
