Howdy folks,

New to FALs, I'm an old M14 and Garand guy. But when i saw this DSA 16' Para in the shop i couldn't pass it up. so a scope mount, 7x 30rnd mags and an Aimpoint later, here i am.

a few questions for the subject matter experts here:

1. what is the IMC (Inches/Minutes/Clicks) dope on the Para sight? for example, if i am shooting 6inches low and 6 inches right at 100yds, how many clicks does it take to move the Point of Impact 1" at 100yds ( 1MOA)

2. I have plenty of 30 round mags, but only 1 20 rounder...is there any good source for cheap but reliable 10 and 20rnd mags for range use?

3. at the same shop they have a century full length sporter for 700 out the door...good deal or no? if not, whats a good reliable full length rifle for under a thousand?

4. source for backup parts and such ( if needed)? I have always believed the best backup was a spare rifle, and certainly practice that with my M14's, but I'm running out of room in the safe!!!

thanks in advance for any info you have.

You're probably going to have to just suck it up on the low-shooting element unless you want a front sight that is no more than a nubbin.

All the shortened-barrel (less than 21") FAL's are going to shoot low. The more-shorter the barrel the more-lower it will shoot.

The rear aperture screw is probably rack-grade AR thread-pitch, which means it will be roughly half-minute per click. You'll need 12 clicks to bring it to center if you turn the knob. But isn't the para sight dovetailed into the lower receiver? That would allow you to move the whole assembly if you don't want to run the aperture almost all the way to one side.

Movement of the sight in the amount of 0.006" generally will move point of impact one MOA.

Spare parts - www.gunthings.com would be one source, and they're good folks.

Is this due to a shorter sight picture?

Hello,

Unless you have a short gas system, sight radius is same on all full length and para models.
Usually shooting high or low is a function of ammo and velocity due to barrel length.
Shorter length and lighter weight is less steady on target and during recoil.

You can find 20 rounders for sale here on the MP and on GB. J&G sells nice ones, if you have 30 rounders thats good because they are harder to find.
