I shot my argy today. 1st time out. I picked up a battle pack of DAG and went to my nephew’s farm. Targets at 25, 100 and 200. Took three rounds to get the gas adjusted. 10 rounds to get it zeroed. Hitting paper consistently at 200 with open sights. I was keeping up with the youngster with a scoped LR 8. This thing is amazing. Thanks to EVERYONE for their info and support. This is a great place and I have recruited a friend who might be persuaded to join this site and start his 1st build. Now what next....STG or an IZZY HB........

Glad to hear from another happy Argie owner. I am very pleased with mine too.

My feeling is, after my own first time out with my Sarco-kit Argie, you chose the right ammo right off.

I picked up a green plastic battle-pack of the DAG Patrone. I shot some other rounds to sight her in, then tried the DAG. Shee-yoot howdy. Much better performance than any of the other milsurp I have had. SA (all over the paper), Venezuelan CAVIM (about the same), Turkish (consistent FTE) and a couple others.

Always heard that Radway is good too..

Congrats!! I need one of those kits... I vote for an STG next but if you really want to appreciate the full FAL/L1A1 experience I would go for an Aussie build.. :D

The DAG which is Dynamit Noble/Men should shoot decent, Here's the spec's on it, Non-corrosive. MEN headstamp (Dynamit Nobel) 1990's production. - Comes 20 rds. per box. 200 rds. per battlepack. 1,000 rds. per case (5 battlepacks).

Muzzle Velocity: 2,805 F.P.S. - Muzzle Energy: 2,550 ft.-lbs. At just a hair over 2800 fps that is just a hair hotter than Lake City match ammo.

Welcome to the club! Build the Israeli HB next-- they are truly astonishing-- but then you will have to build a Para for balance.

That is real nice to hear, good to see that we can accomplish these things with right information.

Post toast as I stated in another thread,,, I covered the receiver with a steel pot for the first round. This is my first build and I wanted to make sure it went boom and not KABOOM.

Nice range report.
With the right ammo, these are simply amazing.
I can't stop with one, or two.

I haven't been able to get to the range since my Argy was finished and before I go I have a question. What number front sight do you use? My kit came with a "0" front sight. Is that the correct one to use? It is an open ear gas block with the tall rear sight.

Mine came with a "5" and I had to screw it all the way in. I am going to replace it with a 3. Try it first and see which (if any) direction you need to go. I am by no means an expert on thie, this is my 1st build.

I am sure this is covered in another thread, but I did not know there were sized front posts. Probably should have figured that though. Sounds like I need a lower number, as mine won't crank down quite enough to get on POI at 50 yd.

Good info comes to us by constant browsing of the FAL Files.

My three Argy FAL with open ear gas block have the following front size posts: 3, 2 and 0 ....this last one looks very solid and doesn't wooble but it looks too unscrewed....I may try a 1 or a 2 front post.... I have another excuse to go back to the range to sight in this one.....
