This is a first hand account story from one of my former work mates, a Help Truck Operator.

THP calls our dispatch desk to inform us of a disabled female motorist, west bound on I-40 between Lovell and Campbell Station Rd. THP does not change tires for obvious reasons. THP officer opts to remain on scene since it's a lady and to provide additional safety while the HTO changes the tire.

HTO arrives and proceeds to change the tire. Upon lowering the rear seat he finds an AR-15 with a mag installed. At this point he casually walks back to the THP officer and advises him there is something He should see. The THP officer discovers the clip to be topped off, but there is not a round in battery.

When he begins to question the middle aged lady, she pleads sincere ignorance and declares that the weapon is her Sons and she had no idea it was behind the seat. At this point the THP officer advises the Lady of the laws she is violating, just what charges She could be facing, so on and so forth.

THEN he returns to the HTO and says,” just change her tire fast and get her outa here”

The flat tire gets changed, and everyone proceeds to their appointed destinations. :D :D

A agree.

Unfortunately they were men before being policemen.

I've been there!
Spent some time in that area, a while back.
I found Tennessee a great place to live.

What Tennessee Gun law was violated? No bayonet on gun? No full auto position?
No extra mags taped to the one already in the gun?

LMAO!!! I think it was the absence of the M-203 nade launcher attachment.

Thank God for small favors, eh?

Nowadays I guess it's something "special" when the pooooleece simply do their job and don't fook with someone. Having a weapon in your car is not illegal in my state.

But I also understand that you (OP) need to grasp at straws to justify your position that they're not all thugs.

Really, grasp at straws.....justify my position.

I have a ticket to the FATA and other lawless areas that you may enjoy.

I can see how with your attitude you probably have lots of trouble with officers of the law, not surprising at all.

I've found the THP to be a lot more professional than either the local PD, but especially the Drug Task Force guys aka "Cocaine Cowboys".

Wasn't it a THP Officer who stopped a NYPD convoy that thought it was above the law and was barrelling through the state at 100+ MPH? I would have liked to buy that THP officer dinner.

Having traveled through tennesee to mississippi a few times, I believe it is illegal to transport a LOADED rifle.

I changed the tire on a lady cop's cruiser one time.

Does that count?

Yeah.. over the years I've noticed that sometimes one can get trouble from assholes with a Napoleon complex..usually petty little f**ks who like to bully people when they feel they can get away with it. Unless they're thugs with a badge they usually STFU. But thugs with badge are.....'SPECIAL'...,aren't they?

You would be correct. Ammo and Rifle must be separated. I.E. Ammo in the trunk, gun in the passenger area, or vice versa. HOWEVER, I believe if one has his HCP in Tennessee he/she is exempt from this rule. Can anyone clarify?

A pleasure to see common sense applied. Kudos to the officer.
