Just ordered a coonan type III for her but wondering if everything else was there as far as the small internal pieces?

Nice kit! Looks like everything is there as far as I can tell. You will need your 922 parts though.

which of the 922 parts are easier/est to buy and replace? Already have to replace the full auto sear and was gonna do the selector as well but not sure what else counts...

Full auto sear doesn't even fit in any U.S. made receiver.. throw it away. Selector does not count as a 922 part.

Most people will do HTS, gas piston, charging handle, pistol grip or some other furniture piece and of course the US made receiver. You need 7 parts.

Do a search for 922 and you will find a list of acceptable replacements.

Your kit looks exceptional. The finish is fantastic. I would love to see an additional picture of the strike plate of the lower.

For such a kit I would recommend an Imbel receiver. You have the best possible parts kit in near new condition. Thus, I must suggest that you find the imbel group buy post.

I would love to beat whoever cut the receiver.

Nice kit!

Rather than any Type 3 receiver, I'd suggest a DSA Type 1 with the carry handle cut, as that would match the lines on your lower, and is the closest thing you'll find to the original. With the FAL Files discount, it's $350 plus shipping.

I wish I knew where she came from but it was given to me along with a few other guns and misc. parts after a family members passing....otherwise I would have bought 1 or 2 more, or as many as I could hide from the wife:biggrin:

A sad way to get them but at least you will be carrying-on a tradition.

Truly an amazing kit !!

Definitely go with a DSA ... I prefer the Type 2 personally (love the arches), but as Hoot said the Type 1 is more correct to the original.

As for the US parts:
Hammer, Trigger, Sear (either DSA, or Falcon Arms or FSE if you can find them)
Gas Piston (either DSA or TAPCO)
Receiver (DSA)
Pistol Grip (any of them are fine, I actually like Century, but TAPCO is fine)
Charging Handle (GunPlumber had some great ones, check if he has any left)
OR a Mag Floor Plate (Falcon Arms)

Do the Stg's have a id number on the barrel anywhere that could be used to match it to the rest of the kit? The lower has 11164 on it, as well as the bolt carrier...

Take the handguards off and look underneath.

Awesome-looking kit, btw

You have a locking shoulder, but it may not be what you need.
Headspace is determined once you get the barrel screwed on to the new upper receiver. That is when you find out what size locking shoulder is required.
The locking shoulder is what actually determines and maintains the headspace.

You might get lucky, you might not. They are available in many sizes.
Here is one source for them and otrher FAL parts.
