Just wondering, is there any way we could put something like this together? I'm sure the order would be substantial!

I'm sure that the order would be substantial, but it will only work if it is a group buy to ONE location, like the same city. The HazMat fees will kill you on the individual shipping fees.

You have to pay HAZMAT on ammo? I've bought thousands of rounds of ammo online and via mail order and never paid a HAZMAT charge.

I think you are OK up to a package @ 60#. Each must be marked ORM-D SMALL ARMS AMMUNITION, but no HAZMAT charge is required for fixed ammunition.

NO HAZMAT on ammo only powder and primer..

What do you guys have in mind, some German stuff from J&G Sales or Military Shooters? Maybe some ATI Turk direct from ATI? I may be in for a few cases depending on the deal.

Sorry about the false alarm there. I roll my own, so I don't buy ammo already made up. You might try Classic arms. They have a boatload of Radway Green and you might get a deal on a volume order.

I'd be down for a couple battle packs if we're going that route.
Pretty stocked up right now but always willing to get in on a good deal...

I just ordered 600 rounds of Pakistani 7.62x51 1990's surplus from Century today. Ended up being about $.27 per round to my door. We'll see how it shoots. They have a special going till the end of the month. $50 per can of 200 rounds. However, I believe that's the FFL price. The general public price is $20 more per can.

Whip up an order/load of several or more pallets and get it shipped by common carrier to a single distribution point. Cuts the ship cost to a couple or 4 bux a case
To get a real break on price, ya prolly gotta order close to 1/4 million rounds!!! ;)

Helluva deal :].....*if* ya can get it

I can make some calls tomorrow and see what kind of deal I can come up with. I'll try new and milsurp both. Shipping will be the biggest issue. I have an UPS account and can do actual shipping, but I'm in WV, not really centrally located.

I'd probably be in for a case or two.

I'd be interested in a couple of battle packs or something equivalent.

I would seriously doubt that you'd get any sort of price break on buying ammo.

There's enough selling that it won't matter- especially surplus.

Another forum I got involved in wanted a GB for 223 and 308.

Of the companies that actually bothered to call us back, they were pretty much talking straight price unless we paid for over a million rounds up front.

Ammo isn't Haz-Mat, it's ORM-D ground ship.

You might get a 10% break on a full pallet to one destination. Then how much to break it down and ship it to individuals?

Not much luck so far guys, the best I've found so far is German MEN from Military Shooters for $370.00/1000 plus shipping. That price is only good if we can buy around 50 cases. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll get the ball rolling.

37 cents a round isn't bad considering that DAG is about 43 cents a piece. Anything better and the price is double to quadruple.

This is what I had in mind. Found this during a search here, it puts me in a tailspin every time I look at this pic. The OP stated it was a previous group buy that ended up costing about $130/case!!!

130 is what it should cost.

True, but those days are gone. Just like $189 Imbel receivers and $199 Steyr kits.

If you can get this together, I'm in for at least a couple of cases. There's no such thing as too much ammo. I'm assuming that a case is 900-1000 rounds.

I've always thought we could open our own manufacturing company. We could sell shares to FAL Files members to build the business and then sell the ammo for a couple cents profit.
