So how are you guys setting up your FALs for 3 gun? Our local match is small so everyone shoots against everyone. Run what ya brung. Everyone shoots AR's with the exception of one or two and most of those have optics. I kinda like the idea of pounding on these guys and their poodle rifles with a FAL. Not that I'll never use a poodle shooter myself, but using a 30 cal with irons will always hold a special place in my heart. I shot this match for the 1st time last month and kind of surprised myself that I did so well.

What is the most precise shot required for rifle in your match?

The most precise shot last month was 8"x 12" or so steel plates at about 60 yards. They had 4 plates set up and you had to double tap each one firing from the standing position. The longest shot possible at this range is 100 yards. Not much to call precision. Its a hell of a lot of fun though.

Good on you, bro. One of these days I'll hit the match with the FAL as well. If nothing else I'll scare the dirt around the 480yd targets.

I would go with a red-dot all the way if the smallest target is 8 inches wide, and only 60 yards away.

These PICS are part of ONE rifle stage in a 3-Gun match we shot yesterday..

You can see in the one PIC the scoring zone has been reduced quite a bit on the far left target and every target had to be engaged from one of the four "windows" in the orange net wall..
I wanted to get more PICS but just didn't have time... In this match we had THREE rifle stages and there was some pretty interesting shots indeed.. I would say it may have been one of the most precise couses Iv'e ever shot, one stage in particular included a Clay Pigion on a stand shot at through a very small opening a good 40+ yards away..
Heres a PIC of my shootin iron choices after the match.. I wasn't sure which PARA to shoot so I brought them both.. Ended up using this one and my CZ-75 in .40 S&W.. Also ran the SAIGA 12 but it's already in a bag by this time..

For me I think if'n I'm using an FAL in a 3-Gun match irons will be my choice..
