I have wanted an fal for 40 yrs and finally got one. It was tagged as a cetme ,Iknew that wasnt the case, thought it was a century but it had no visable markings. It was in like new shape and the price was right so I bought. It was sold as a century and after getting it home and taking it apart to find any markings,I found it to be an all numbers matching fsl(didnt know what that was at the time,do now) Have gained so much insight into this firearm as well as so many other veriations .the knowlege contained on this site is amazing to me.Original price was $600.00 and i got it for under $500.00 .It has allready become one of my favorite guns in my collection.

Wow, that was easy ;) :D

Just kidding you, dude !! But seriously, if you are gonna bruise over a little grammar comment, you'd be in critical care once ya start tradin' shots with the big boys here   You have to understand that for the most part, this is an excellent bunch of guys who view this as a big family, where it is not only okay to bust chops, it is expected. In this case I view the criticism as constructive and friendly, FWIW. If that ain't your boat, it's still okay - bottom line you will be accepted for WHO you are and WHAT you say and HOW you treat folks, not by your mastery of English. Anyhoo, I'd hope you go have a brewski, loosen up yer BVDs, and take a few snaps of your new baby. I am an admitted fan of the FMAPs and it sounds like you scored a preban for tiny bucks - nice to know it still happens now and then !!!

You do want to check in the magwell for an "SAC Latta" stamp - if it is there it may be very faint, and would indicate that you have a post ban in which the correctly serialled components were reunited. Not particularly likely, but not unheard of. Still a superb FAL, of course, but the "value" would take a slight hit from a collectors' standpoint. What importers' stamps or other markings are present ? If you discover it's a Bello import you're going to be glad you stayed and talked with us !!!!

PIX, PIX - without them yer just teasin' us :)

I'd like to know the number, especially if it is under 170.

Does it look like this:

Thanks for your comment, trust me i am as much a cutup as anyone, just not much of a typist.I will go slow and try my best for the more literate of us...that said there are no other mark on the rifle to show importer other than armcorp,I have learned so much from this site I am amazed. As for pictures i am not permitted for some reason to use them at this time??. I will get better ones than i have to put on when I can.My see ya comment was not based on thin skin but to hopefully get the reaction that i got from you ,again thanx. The other fellow is correct though and can you take a picture of air...just kidding guys.sereously i'm cool with a little ribbin ,just didnt expect it so soon.

Pedro Bello was an early importer of a very small number of FSLs. Because of the tiny number involved they are quite sought after by collectors ( and me  ). I've never seen an FSL so marked, so I am unsure of the exact wording of the stamp other than it would incorporate Mr. Bellos name.

Other preban importers were Armscorp and National Arms. My Nat Arms has no importers stamp on the receiver, but is marked National Arms, Billerica, Ma on the bottom of the barrel. Your serial is just slightly above mine, so you may have one of these. They are the second rarest of the FMAP imports, I believe. Lee Carpentier is the resident FMAP guru and may be along to correct me or add more info.

BTW, use a photo hosting service such as Photobucked, them just cut and paste the IMG into your post here. Took a while, but even a digital dummy like me figured it out ( FINALLY - I'm not admitting how long it took !!!!).

Edited to add I just read your response to Speedgunners post. You might want to remove the HGs and check for markings there, just in case. Did you check the magwell REALLY closely ?

Hey, we're glad you stuck, too !! Most of us cranky olde fartes have gotten a bit stale, we need newbs to feed on ( and also to keep us in line :) ). Besides, your score puts most of us to shame and renews our hopes for the next gunshop visit....................................

Don't know what to make of the lack of importers' marks. I know the SAC stamps were sometimes very, very faint, and it was not unheard of to "polish" them a bit into oblivion then refinish to make the rifle appear preban. I doubt thats the case here what with your very low serial. In any event, it is clear you got a smokin' deal - now we just have a minor mystery to solve regarding its importer.

Where's Lee when you need him

When you get a chance, give a close look at the muzzle device. Is it internally threaded and have serattions on the front face or is it smooth both of those places ? Most of the Argy commercial imports were the latter. Also, does it have the standard FAL sliding rear sight, or the flip type with ears like the para models have ?

Hmmmmm - both of mine have Armscorp importer stamps on the receiver side. They are somewhat higher serials, in the 300s, though.

I think we're safe in presuming it is preban, most likely Armscorp import.
