Minor road trip through the states in the title. In NC you are required to inform any LEO you come in contact with you are concealed carry permittee.
What are the rules in Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky?
Thanks,

Not required to inform in VA.
VA cops won't know you have an out-of-state permit unless you tell them.
If circumstances are such that the officer might detect your handgun on his own, you can avoid a physics lesson if you have already informed him that you are legally armed.
80 mph is RECKLESS DRIVING in VA, even in the zones that are marked 70 mph speed limit.
Mandatory court appearance.

Did a little "leg work" on my own.
In both WV and KY the rules are the same as in NC. You are required to inform.
Oddly everyone I talked to, in both cases had to ask around for the information and I could hear differing opinions being bantered around. For both states I was told it was a "good idea". I asked if that was the law and eventually was told it was.
I'm not so sure, but if situation presents itself I will err on the side of caution.

Last time I checked WV does not require you to inform an officer. I always do though, and I've never had a problem with it. In fact, a CCW permit can help you out on a traffic stop, at least around my home town. BTW, I live in Huntington WV.
Last time I was pulled over in VA I informed the officer I had a permit and was carrying. He didn't even blink, just kept on with the traffic stop.

I go through KY regularly. Don't believe you have a duty to inform. Just checked all the KY statutes - couldn't find it. Please let me know where you saw this.

Did not "see" it. Got the info over the phone from whoever answered at the Fayette Co. (Lexington) Sheriffs Dept. The fellow I talked to asked some people (officers?) around him and I heard both opinions in the discussion. He finally told me it would be a good idea to inform. I agree but would be interested to know what the law is.
This exact same scenario was repeated when I called a sheriffs office in WV. This info is not easy to glean, for some reason.
Going back in the Spring and will research in the meantime.

I know - too many gun laws, no one knows what they are....can't blame the cops either.
I checked the laws off the state of KY web-site - no mention of it in there, nor is it in the not so helpful "here is what you have to know when you have a CCW in KY" section either.
Personally, I do not think it is a good idea to inform. I am not pulling my gun out at a stop and all it can do is serve to ratchet up the tension level - IMHO.
Perhaps a LEO on the other side of that stop might have a diffferent opinion?
