This was written by a blithering idiot drama queen one step from madness on a daily basis. And she reproduced. yay.
"I had an emergency Xanax in my jeans pocket. I always carry an emergency Xanax in my pocket. The result of severe anxiety." Gee-ya think??
While I am not too thrilled by the NEW TSA, I think an errant fart in her general direction would have set this broad off. I've seen her kind far too often to even consider this as a believable story.
I feel for her husband and for poor little "Jackson". His mom is a fruit loop whack job.
Go back and re-read it. She's nuts.

Thanks for saving me the time it would take to read that.

If you're brave enough to go back to her blog, note that the "word cloud" indicates that "anxiety" and "insanity" are two of the most frequently used terms in her writings. Sounds 'bout right...
... and in no way does this excuse what the TSA did here. Seems like the situation could have been handled much better by all parties involved.
I did like how, after all this trauma, she still had time to ask the ticket agent for a window seat. Can't say as if I've ever had a panic attack that has nearly caused me to black-out in an airport bathroom, but if I did, I know that changing my seat assignment would be high on my list of priorities.

Perhaps the individual does have a real mental health issue such as an anxiety disorder. Almost blacking-out in a bathroom would be a mild reaction from someone with real "issues". Everyone in our country deserves to be treated with respect, especially the mentally ill. If you guys had a friend or loved one suffering with mental illness perhaps you'd be more sympathetic...

I have had a friend's wife suffering from this sort of thing.
And, I'm NOT sympathetic. Period.
It was not a pleasent experience and she needed locked up for her own safety and the safety of others. She tried to kill herself 3x I know of and 2 of those she tried to take my best friend out with her. She was able to be released time and time again because doctors were more concerned with HER rights to be out amongst us rather than OUR rights NOT be be exposed to someone like her. They are now divorced and she ran off to another state. My regrets to Florida.
The woman in the blog--she has a Xanax in her pocket? If Little Jackson is still small, like she implies, I wonder if she was on it when the kid was still in her womb? Raising a kid will certainly cause 'anxiety'. Is she gonna take a pill each and every time little Jackson gets a cut or experiences any of Life's other pitfalls? My. Wouldn't that create a fine young man in Jackson in about 16 years?
Does she get her attacks and take one while she is driving? That type of thing certainly could affect you and I. Just like her episode at this airport. I don't know and neither do you. All I know is what I read and the comments from the hand wringers that added to the blog.
THIS woman is a product of Oprah. So are her followers. Go read it again with that in mind.

The problem is most states do not have "state hospitals" for the mentally ill anymore. The docs dose them up on tons of meds and send them out into the world to fend for themselves, so your solution of locking them up is neither viable nor realistic. Unless the person's family has the financial ability to cover the $100K plus per year cost of putting the person into a facility, it's not going to happen.
If the woman in the airport had been an elderly woman with a mental disorder such as dementia or alzhemier's, I bet you wouldn't be so indifferent. People with your attitude toward the mentally-ill make me sick. Maybe God will give you a mentally-ill child one day to teach you compassion for others...
If the woman in your example really tried to kill someone else, then the authorities(police and prosecutors) had the obligation to prosecute her so don't blame her doctors.
Since you seem to want all of the mentally-ill who you deem to be dangerous locked-up, how many times have you and your friend with the mentally-ill ex contacted your representatives in state government asking them to increase your state's funding to care for the mentally-ill? I'm guessing a big fat ZERO.

Her emotions are irrevelant. The question is:did TSA separate the woman from her child? Did they continue this separation after she asks for her child's return?

“You need to adjust your attitude and do as you are told.”
pretty much say's it all. remember that when they haul your kid off out of sight. i'll be damned if some overweight gated community guard shack dropout that probably couldn't get a CCW is going to treat me like that.
they are less qualified in most cases than government meat inspectors to evaluate threat and have the opinion they are law enforcement officers.
until their attitude, procedures and appearance change this will continue.
one of these dickweeds tried to inspect my mother's luggage after departing the plane and still in the secured area on her way to a restroom. (yep, Atlanta Hartsfield ) little ghetto thug punk hired on a special (employ the less fortunate) program picked the wrong old white women that day.

The key part of this while thing is the TSA idiot who wouldn't just let the woman remove her son's pacifier clip, then step through the metal detector and see that it didn't go off.
Then she'd have been on her way.
But instead, the TSA moron went out of their way to cause this woman trouble just because they could.

So, for your first paragraph--it's OK with you for this to happen?? For them to be released on an unsuspecting population where they can hurt others or themselves? NICE!!
And as for wishing a mentally ill child on me---Boy--that's REAL sweet of you. Shows how "Christian" you really are.
INCREASE my state's funding? I pay local, city, county, state and federal taxes and they always have a mental retardation renewal each and every year. My taxes go up each and every year because of people like you wanting taxes raised on their own personal pet projects. With the economy tanking--the well is dry, pal. No more taxes--get it from someone else. People like you always putting their hand in my pocket make ME sick.
And frankly, you don't know shit about my compassion. In my last place of employ, I hired the MRDD workshop to work in our factory. And while they were great people and worked hard, the continuous assaults and one rape that occurred while they were there kind of hardened me to this kind of thing in addition to my friend's wife. While not their fault, it was also my responsibility to provide a safe workplace for the rest of the people working there. We also need to protect society from those not able to do so for themselves.

Her emotions ARE indeed relevant.
From her rant, I wouldn't believe her if she said money is green and the skies are blue. She was impaired from whatever she has floating around in her head as well as the Xanax in her blood.
Your questions are relevant and unless a tape or witnesses show up showing her to be correct--I don't believe her.

Again--considering this woman had god knows how much Xanax floating in her bloodstream, I don't buy her account for ANY quotes to be valid.
I certainly would not condone TSA's actions but we have a woman, obviously distraught, that suffers from anxiety --taking whatever the heck she is prescribed to bring her back down, and you guys are falling all over yourself to believe her??
I believe you about your mother and agree that was pretty stupid on their part--but after reading this blog, where the title photo is of a pouring wine bottle--man. I'm not buying this crap.

I'd like to see if this story gets corroborated.
I'll say this about the woman. She isn't the only one out there taking something to calm her down. Xanax flies off the shelf. A lot of people take it but don't tell anyone becaue they don't want to be seen as defective. I've taken it before myself when the *heart attack-like* symptoms would appear out of nowhere. I take a daily medication for that now, and it works great.
I think she definitely is not a good writer, and could have written her story a little differently......toned it down a bit But her emotions are not an indictment of the truth IMO.
If someone grabbed my baby and walked away to another room with it there would a problem. They would have to physically restrain me to keep me away from my child.
If the story checks out, the TSA is at fault, not the lady.

So, because of "god knows how much Xanax floating in her bloodstream", you think that the story of the child being taken is a fabrication of a defective mind?
Even if the story is not corroborated, it is good to see where you stand.
You seem to be quite the expert on mental health issues. I sincerely hope that if I'm in need of help, you are not the only other person on location.....of course, if there were lots of stones lying about on the ground, you would probably feel right at home.

Yes. As a matter of fact, I do think this is a fabrication.
I question if she were pulled over, would she be competent to drive with those drugs in her system? If Xanax calms her down, wouldn't a shot and a beer do the same? Same effect, no?
Do we know for sure this tale she wrote was NOT embellished by someone hyped up on whatever? She does suffer from anxiety attacks and carries a pill in her pocket.
What finally convinced this is BS is the fact that she went thru all of this trauma, and she is worried about changing her seat? Come on now.
I think that she is another in a long line of people seeking their 15 minutes of fame. And is using her child to do so. IF anything happened at all.
But it's good to see where you stand. Wanna buy a bridge?
