The Federal Reserve System is considered to be an independent central bank. It is, but only in the sense that its decisions do not have to be ratified by the President or anyone else in the executive branch of government. However the entire system is subject to the oversight of Congress because the Constitution gives to Congress the power to coin money and set its value.
In 1913 Congress delegated that power to the Fed, and could reclaim it at any time. The Fed must act within the framework of the overall objectives of economic and financial policy established by Congress. Thus the description of the System as "independent within the government" is more accurate. http://wfhummel.cnchost.com/fedoverview.html
What is keeping Congress from reclaiming this authority? They don't want the responsibility that comes with it! Congress, by its nature as a collective body, doesn't make objective decisions in a timely manner. It makes subjective decisions in an untimely manner.

Well - the decision will be made for them if they don't pull their collective heads out Post - Haste.

How can Bernanke be stopped?
Such a move as replacing BB won’t come from the White House.
If Odummy understood anything about economics and didn’t want the US to be destroyed, could he stop BB?
Pointless question, the Campaigner in Chief knows nothing and wants to turn the US into Zimbabwe
The only real question is;
Can QE2 be stopped by congress?
gates
November 07, 2010, 18:08
Yes it can but it will require them to do what Alant alluded to - take responsibility.
The rest of the world is already freaking out about this - it won't end well.

Well,
All I can is that $4.00 plus gas prices will have folks complaining up storm and I don't see many folks willing to do anything to change it. QE3 will be straw that brakes the back though. 2012 will be awful interesting.

That is going to happen regardless. The only difference will be the time it takes to make a recovery. Gov/Fed interference will drag this out for decades. Drop a lot of bullshit rules and taxes and we'll be back to boom town in 4 or 5 years.

Naw - gotta clear the debt first - people need a clean slate and a job before we can blow the next bubble the avg consumer can participate in.

Think about your average congressman. Then think about that person attempting to make an informed decision about the Fed.
Once you've found something to displace that disturbing mental image, then you will have figured out why we're screwed and why we will stay screwed.
So, the fix won't come from within, and it will be extremely difficult for anyone else in the world to force a change in behavior. This stalemate should be fairly interesting.

I believe the next bubble is food. Just like ammo people will buy and hoarde a supply leaving the shelves bare. That is when they realize it's all going up about 20%.

The US Supreme Court has found that the FED is a private bank on more than one occasion.
It is a PRIVATE bank filling the role (badly) as a central bank.
And, yes, Congress could "take back" the power to issue money, but the retards in Congress like the way things are right now. The problems that you and I have do not apply to them.
And while you say that it is subject to Congressional oversight, there has never been one single audit, etc. of the FED by Congress or anyone else.
Peace.

Well... Bill is not going to like where this train of thought is leading... Armed Revolution is the end game if these cats (congresscritters) don't want to face the music. Thats what you all are alluding to even if you won't come out and say it - I said it months ago and got hammered for same.

Gates-
I believe that this is all part of the Elites plan for a NWO.
First they have got to break this country down, then it will
be rebuilt according to their specifications.
Just a thought

Funny how so many of those that called us nuts before....
Are now screaming bloody murder.....
A violent revolution isn't needed. As in units fighting. Just defend your home and family with extreme prejudice from all takers. Find neighbors with the same mind set. These days there are more and more every day thinking like I do.
The attrition rate on those that steal on behalf of the government/banksters will take care of the rest. Not to mention they themselves losing their homes due to the fact that their pay won't cover their expenses either.
Take their thugs away...... The bankster criminals will have no hands, eyes or ears left to commit more crimes against the citizens of our country.
I can only hope the good people in LE and the military will see the light and support and defend the constitution as they swore to do. Refuse to take peoples homes away for the banksters! Refuse to fire on your fellow citizens! HONOR YOUR OATH!!!!
It's a house of cards with scary pictures on them. Tailor made to scare us. Some of us don't scare so easy. They are looking for victims. Just like all criminals.... When they look down the barrel of a 7.62 aimed by somebody that is not a criminal, determined and desperate with nothing else left to lose......They will look for a way out.......Real fast. They have to decide if it's worth it to lose their lives by trying to take away our homes. It's worth the risk for me to defend it.
Is it a good day to die? Maybe. Maybe not. Their decision.
Get your house in order. Make it defendable. Have food and water in reserve. Lot's of warm clothing/blankets. It's gonna get cold and hot at the same time.......
These are our homes. Last stand. Nowhere else to go except the grave from here. No camps. No giving up just to die horribly in their hands.

Really gates I could care less what "Bill thinks", it was his type of liberal progressive thinking that got us here. If he was a man of honor he would have great shame for his parties huge part in the destruction of America. I have no respect at all for this man but then I never have since his tailpipe porn post.
If it comes down to people killing people because of this then progressives are the people who caused it.

The "progressives" are nothing more than useful idiots for the banksters/fedgov as Lenin had them also......
Neocons are also nothing more than useful idiots for the banksters/fedgov as Lenin had them also......
Both R's and D's are to blame. Including me for a time...... A long time ago.

The head of the snake may control the bite but it takes usefull idiots to do the bidding of the snake. Without those idiots the snake has no power and dies. Matters little the title the progressive has be it D or R, the progressives are the ones who have fugged the nation.

The police and military will do what it takes to feed their families.Even dolvio above you is for sale to the highest bidder.
The powers that be will sit in their comfy bunkers eating and relaxing while the rest of us suffer. If they can fund and feed the military and police, that's all they need.North Korea is a good example-feed your military and let the people starve.Who rises up?Same will happen here-go along to get along.
Greece is also a good example from what I have seen. Many will defend their gov no matter what.
A few high profile cases in the media will get the vast majority to fall in line.We the people have long ago decided that servitude is better/easier than liberty, and now the harvest comes to reap what has been sown.......

Bernanke will not stop printing
Bernanke will not be removed as Chairman of the Fed
It has to be illegal to monetize the debt but I haven’t heard about charges being made
Such a charge won’t come from the Attorney General Eric Holder
Obullshit won’t demand it
Could Geithner stop it since he’s the Secretary of the Treasury and QE2 is going directly into Treasury debt?
Geithner isn’t going to say a word about direct monetizing other than it being necessary
Let’s face it. QE2, QE3, and QE5 are going to happen. There’s no one to stop it. We will go the way of Weimar and Zimbabwe
If there are elections in 2012, maybe things can be turned around

They'd just replace him with another. The central bank has to be shut down...globally. By any means necessary. A true war on terror (terrorist bankers).
