“Oddly enough, buying a gun still holds very steady, but buying ammunition not so much,” said Colas, who analyzes trends in the economy and financial markets.

In addition to firearms and food stamps, ConvergEX reviewed sales of gold and silver coins and used cars.

“That tells us that there are more first-time [gun] buyers coming in to buy firearms and that speaks to your worries about security. They buy a few rounds [of ammunition] first time, but they don’t buy more.”

What? You guys would go on foodstamps? What the hell? Theres food swimming around in the lakes, running around the woods, and laying around the fields after the harvest.

RG Coburn. I think you misunderstood. We would go on foodstamps after getting the weapon, i.e. we would not be disarmed. It's moot anyway. People are concerned about longer-term survival and it's dawning on some at least that having a weapon might be a good idea both for protection and food gathering.
In any event foodstamps and such are there for the unemployed- even unemployment doesnt pay that much. How long such programs will remain in place remains to be seen, deficits being as they are.

Like clockwork...

Another election is approaching and it's no coincidence that 2012 is shaping up to be a huge year for sales of bullets and guns. President Obama is even being referred to as "salesman of the year."

This is a typical story-"resurrected" thread. Alant's good idea came two years ago and its been down hill ever since :D

The author is spot on. We are selling guns , either shot guns or pistols to first time purchasers at a high rate. And its true , they buy only a little ammo, usually one or two boxes.I doubt most will even try firing the gun. They just want one . They are scared. It's sad. Many have stories of recently being a victim of crime. I give them helpful advice if they will listen. EBR's are not selling well and when they do sell they are usually high end like LWRC or Daniels and are bought by long time gun folk. Law enforcement is stocking up with huge ammo sales. Even security in Health care facilities are upgrading and stocking up. They have much more than pistols. We are moving product but at reduced margin due to stiff competition.

I dropped by J&G a month ago. The place was crowded with folks being shown weapons by the sales staff.
