Spoke to Enterprise, talked them into doing a run of 50 TYPE I receivers.
If your interested, let me know..
It will take about 5-6 weeks to get them made for us..
These need to be paid for in advance, (been there done that) I am sure you understand..

These will be discounted price. $315

They will do a custom SER# $25

I will ship the cheapest to your FFL..
I think the charge should be around $15 insured and track numbers.

Those of you that know about the barrels I am working on, I spoke to them today.. "still working on it" They are measuring things up between machine operations. They are doing three models for me.. They told me when they push the run button they will send me a sample.... OOOwwwhhhh.....

I would be interested, how would the money and ordering be handled? Would we just contact Entreprise like we did for the Coonan group buy or would it all be going through you? I guess I would like to be sure that is 100% go before sending money anywhere. The Coonan group buy wasn't a huge discount but it was free shipping, easy and trouble free. For $35 off I would want easy and trouble free.

Thanks!

Hot blued BGS would be my vote..

I would be interested if they accept returns if the receiver isn't in spec and also if they would do the markings for german G1 receivers

Copied from there web site...

Entréprise Arms strives to bring you the highest quality parts. With our advanced CNC manufacturing machinery and our improved programming, we are able to offer you a superior receiver at a reduced price. Value and performance for your dollar is our goal. We are so sure that you’ll be 100% satisfied, we have an unconditional lifetime guarantee on our receivers - PERIOD!

I will be using my FFL, and handling every thing personally to ensure hassle free transactions for every one.
In order to keep things super simple, I will be the recipient of your M.O.
On the M.O, you will include your FFLs name so I can locate them in the pile of faxes. You will provide your FFL with my number for them to fax to, and a notation of your name and handle will be included so I can match them up...

I will contact you when both are in my possession. Then when the receivers arrive I will log them in, box them up, log them out, and ship them on there way.

I am a FEDERAL FIREARM LICENSE HOLDER..
Your FFL holder can request a copy of my license to ease your concerns.

I will inquire about special markings other than Serial number.

I based shipping on Priority flat rate with insurance and tracking two days to get there.. There would be no extra shipping charge for multiple receiver order. Like the mail man says if it fits it ships...

I can get it to your FFL cheaper using parcel post, but that takes up to six days to arrive,, not good..

As a side note, if we can manage to purchase all fifty receivers we will receive another discount which I will pass on to you..

Cut for carrying handle?

And how custom can we get with markings?

Brasshound
October 29, 2010, 16:11
I spoke to enterprise about the questions.
Yes cut for handle.
Yes they will do the custom markings included with this offer. Within reason.
Fax me a drawing and I will forward it to them for approval.

Gew. Kal. 7,62mm F.N. #0000

(Seen on page #251 of the Metric FAL.)

I believe the Entreprise receiver must be manufactured blank on the left side in order to roll stamp this BGS information. Confirm.

If they do the G1 marking and put their stamp on the bottom of the receiver in between the trigger guard and mag well I would be in for at least 1.

The Entreprise manufacturing data is currently on the right side of the receiver and would not interfere with the BGS markings on the left side of the receiver.

If you secure Entreprises clearence on there markings:
Gew. Kal. 7,62mm F.N. #0000, I would be in for one.

If the manufacturer has there legit info on the bottom, out of sight, would it be improper/illegal to have "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE...HERSTAL BELGIQUE" on the right side to create a historically correct facsimile?

To prevent trade or copyright infringement, if FN gave their approval to license and collect royalties this would likely increase the selling cost of the receivers by 25 to 50 percent.
I doubt FN would entertain the thought of a license for a small amount of receivers not to say FN would be giving up the right of quality control.

It's a nice gesture but like DS Arms stamped on the right side of their receivers, I don't see a problem with Entreprise doing the same. It's not only a legal issue but also a matter of advertising. So, it is in both parties interest to make excellent receivers.

I will order 1.

Ok,,,,

Enterprise stamp must be visible, but like I mentioned they will work on special location for us.. May not be issue due to BGS on the other side any how..

One member asked to put a different manufacturer name on receiver.. They will not do this due to possible conflicts with ATF/NFA...

jdubya87 T-48 no problem, they remember doing one like that before.

Who had that link to picture, I am going to forward it to my contact.

I will need the Ser. #s from every one as well, start sending them per P.M, or for those who still have a FAX machine
FOUR Zero SIX Triple seven 3564

Font.. They will get it as close as possible..

I will ask them about a sample font, on a scrap or something..

And others..
With most of the requests being for the BGS Markings, this should be pretty easy. I believe I will start requesting info and funds next week or so,,, for those who want to start sooner feel free to P.M me...

Thanks for checking on the finish options, as well as all the other work going into this.

My kit hasn't arrived yet, but my questions have been:

1) Could we get them NCHC ? (They offer that Type 1 config normally.)

2) Would they skip the tanks, and ship ITW ?

TIA, for all your help.

I asked about the No Cary Handle Cut.. NCHC.. I prefer that look my self... There answer was.... That would require a different program run, And they were not interest in doing this at this time.. But will ask again.....

If I read it all correctly, the receiver is the same, it comes down to stock (set) types and hand guards...

Brasshound-

First, we call appreciate your taking this on. FAL FILES at its finest.

Question: Has Entreprise actually confirmed that they will enscribe the receivers with script other than BGS ?

If so, I'm in for an R1 with the M inside of the U like Spikie has requested. I'll take this one in gray park. Also, I'll furnish serial # for customizing.

Thanks.

Hi Brasshound,

I'm fairly new here (and to FAL's period) but have been following this thread for awhile now. I just ordered my BGS parts kit from APEX (I know, I know.... but better late than never ;) ) and wanted to know if I can still participate in the group buy for an Enterprise receiver?

If so, I would like the receiver to be -- hot blued, w/ BGS markings & custom SN (w/ tiny hidden Enterprise markings)

Since I won't know my serial number until I receive my parts kit, will I have enough time before all orders have to go in? I'll PM you my serial number as soon as I receive it.

Thanks, and look forward to seeing how this all shakes out!

Enterprise has told me they are in the machining process at this time, and I believe they are going to get more castings due to the order size..
I was told, they should be ready for me in 2-3 weeks.. But I have no date set in stone from them..

I am waiting for is the SCRIPT for the BGS markings.. We want it to be correct, and they are in the process of doing just that..

Remember, once Enterprise does this, I will be requesting every ones funds for their receivers..

Some members have already initiated payments and FFL paper work for their receivers and this should help save me some time..
THANK YOU... If any one wishes to get things going now, feel free to contact me for details..

Thank you

Brasshound - I called Enterprise to inquire about one of their Indian marked receivers (anybody wanting 1 call Matt & get on the list for them) - Anyway he told me that on the Indian receivers they were gonna do custom SN# for FREE, would be nice if they would do the same for the BGS receivers  - This is Enterprises time to shine, if they send out QUALITY receivers & for the fact that no one else will even consider doing custom markings like this they will get ALOT of business!!

Brass,

I'll take a chance that Entreprise will come through on this GB. Please up my order from 2 to 4 receivers.
Will Entreprise give a break on the most common configuration?
(hot blue, BGS, tiny logo, custom S/N)

Am I being paranoid about this deal if I suggest you take in all the prepaid funds and then withhold some percentage from Entreprise so there is a little leverage if we have problems down the road? I know it puts the burden on you but this group buy is pretty large and there seem to be some concerns about dealing with Entreprise in the past.

Brasshound,

Entreprise putting their S/N on the lightening cut along with the rest of their information would give you a blank slate for markings for any kit you picked up later. Otherwise, you would have a mismatched receiver S/N and kit S/N.

I see alot of folks stating that they want tiny "Entreprise" script. I too want the manufacturer's name to be as small as legally allowed.

I suppose the question is: does anybody want anything other than that ?

Can we work from the assumption that everyone wants "Entreprise Arms Irwindale CA" to be as small as possible ?

Guys,, I will need to start second list, we have taken all the available receivers (if every one goes through with purchase) from this run.. They have more castings on the way, but the process takes time.
As I get more info, I will post..

Brasshound,

Update to my order- I'd like the hidden logo and I'd like to see if I can get it custom marked as a Rhodie which, if I understand correctly, is pretty much just a serial number. I'll shoot you a PM with more detail, such as the ser#.

Thanks for doing this- it must be turning into a logistical nightmare for you

Entreprise putting their S/N on the lightening cut along with the rest of their information would give you a blank slate for markings for any kit you picked up later. Otherwise, you would have a mismatched receiver S/N and kit S/N.

Spoke to Enterprise.
Yes they will put their SN# on lighting cut with logo if you like. (1/16" print)

BUT!!!! Do not add another SERIAL "NUMBER" to your receiver. Could be a very bad thing...

Okay,

Do any manufacturers here have any information on this? I, as much as anyone, do not want to get crossways with any laws. My understanding is that it is not allowed to mess with the original manufacturer's markings or the original serial number. Is adding additional text to include another number elsewhere on the receiver a problem? It would seem that having the original S/N in the same line as the manufacturer's info, all in the same font, would clearly identify the receiver and make it Kosher. If it's a problem, I'll just get the S/N in the same location as everyone else.

Thanks

The answer is after you receive the serial numbered receiver from the manufacturer you can engrave anything you want as long as you do not obscure the original manufacturer, importer or serial number.
But with two different serial numbers on the receiver you may end up with mismatched and confusing looking receiver, and you may have to retain your original bill of sale to quantify the correct serial number.

This might come down to the interpretation of the ATF agent holding your fire arm , :? And the documents Enterprise would have to back it up..

Pleae update my order as per post #130.
------------
I'll take a chance that Entreprise will come through on this GB. Please up my order from 2 to 4 receivers.
Will Entreprise give a break on the most common configuration?
(hot blue, BGS, tiny logo, custom S/N)
------------
If this is a problem because of finite number of castings then I can be flexible and put the second 2 on the second list. Spreading over more folks is good.

Thanks,

It looks pretty good. I have two things that I would change if possible:
1. The height of the lower case letters is too tall. The original script had the lower case letters only about half the height of the upper case. Take a look at the 'G' and the 'ew'.

2. The spacing of each letter is exactly the same. It looks to be like the original lettering spacing changed based on the letter. eg. The lower case 'l' and period '.' are narrow and the 'w' is wider. Most caps are wider. This is called proportional spacing.

I think number 1 above is probably the most obvious issue. number 2 not as much.

Good eye....
The height of the smaller case letters are to tall, and they are doing their magic on the program now. I did mention the spacing, but I figured it would be reduced when the height was fixed. I will ask to make sure..

Looks like these are coming along nicely. I agree with the corrections others have suggested.

Pending seeing the updated pics, I would also suggest these additional, nitpicking corrections:

-That the lower, circular "o" part of the lower case "a" should be smaller.
-The upper half-circle of the "e" should also be smaller
-The diagonal part of the number "2" should be slanted more, with less open space between the diagonal line and the horizontal foot of the "2".
-The "G" of Gew. should be less rounded. In the pic of the original receiver, the left part of the G is almost perfectly vertical with just a hint of a curve present.
-Someone may have mentioned this already but I believe there is a period missing after the "N" in F.N.
-The outside "arms" of the "w" should only extend slightly further up than the middle point.
-Overall, the font looks like it could stand to be a little thicker and "bolder". That might help make the oversized spaces within the letters and numerals appear smaller. Reducing the overall size of the lower-case letters will help too.

I know it's anal retentive, but those are just some observations I had.;)

Well, most people probably won't care, and maybe I'm mistaken on some of the details, but I figured I'd just point out some things I noticed since they are going through the trouble of doing this at all. I was just comparing what I saw in the posted black and white picture of an original receiver with the "prototype" pic of the Entreprise receiver. Maybe there is enough variation in markings and fonts that there is no one absolute correct method. I just noticed that the color pic of a BGS FAL receiver markings doesn't look exactly like those of the black and white pic of original markings.

Will the serial numbers be serifed similarly to the "2727" number posted?

They are cutting receivers as we type, so we have a little time to get the script as close to correct as possible... (well as close as they can)

Just got off the phone with them,, I was curious about the scale, and asked them to fit there sample to a lower for perspective.. Going to get another change.. Its to big..

They are making adjustments to the size, and some more tweaks to the script as well.. Will post pictures as soon as I get them..

November 22, 2010, 23:17
Your right it is too big. If the height is reduced much more then the top curle of the 'a' and the bottom curle of the 'e' will touch the loop inside the letter. Did I say that right? On the original pics those letters do not curle quite so much. How are the letters being created? Are they being milled? If so maybe less depth of cut would help. ??

Brasshound..

I need to send you my payment and custom S/N's.

Have you any thoughts or is there a concensus on having you withhold a portion of the the full payment to Entreprise to help with potential scheduling issues should they come up?
Or do you have a good feel for this group buy coming off in a timely manner given your current communications with Entre?

To be honest, its kind of a double edge sword..

I need to receive all the payments, while they work on our order so I know what I can actually order.

To give Enterprise some credit, they have been working hard on the script for us.. in fact, I will be calling today to check progress on the latest change..
I have called so many times, they know who will be on the other end.

I spoke to Enterprise about the order... I was also told again, I will receive sample of the run. Will keep you advised on this.

They have also stated that each receiver will be inspected prior to shipping.

Enterprise and I spoke about the this financial transaction.
I will be not be sending them the entire amount all at once.
In turn, they will send us receivers that cover that amount.
I was told again, they are cutting our receivers now..

As soon as I get the new script picture, I will post it too.

Sorry to be a pain in the ass but as an organized person I would like Entreprise to provide an ETA on these receivers.
If they are currently working on milling the receivers now, what is there estimated time on cutting, finishing and etching? Do they have personnel to complete the process concurrently or consecutively?
There is a big difference in the timeline if completion by the latter.

I know the Elfs have taken the hoilday season off to make toys instead of British receivers.

Will do Dakto.. I will get a better time frame for us, and
I have my large comfy eating pants set out for tomorrows challenges. ;)

Here are the pictures they promised..
They already mentioned "We might work on the spacing of the lettering a little. "

I can see the G and e need a little work.. As you can also see, Entreprise has decided to try to match the actual rifle picture..

Hi Brasshound,

Looks like they are making good progress. At the risk of maybe putting you into a straight jacket for life, the top leg of the "K" on the original looks shorter than the bottom leg. Entreprise's example has equal length legs. And the "G" in the original, the horizontal line doesn't touch the inside of the "G" where Entreprise's does. Other than that (to my eye), they are there.

Any word on your BGS barrel project?

Thanks!

Brasshound
November 25, 2010, 13:28
I will be making a few calls Monday in regards to the barrels, and fallow up on last communication with Enterprise about the letters...

I agree with you on the K, Just difficult to tell with the limited photos of the actual rifle.. I will ask..

angusmac
November 25, 2010, 13:57
Just to do a little ballbusting.... The "7" on the original also has an arched top as opposed to straight

Entreprise is discounting each receiver another $15.

as long as these will ship in a reasonable amount of time, just post the total price shipped per unit w/ the correct address and give us a week or two to act on it, it will probably save you a bunch of typing.

Brasshound - Has Enterprise given you any idea about how long it will take us to get our receivers once the $$$ has been sent in?? - God forbid another fiasco like the Brit cuts - Perhaps you could send word to Enterprise when each of us has made payment BUT hold off sending it in until the receivers are completed? - Bottom line IMO anyway is we need make damn sure Enterprise has a incentive (ie $$$) to complete the receivers in a reasonable time frame, i understand the reason the Brits were never delivered was because they has some "issues" to work out, since they have been producing T1 metric receivers for years i can't foresee any "issues" with our order

@Brasshound - for those of us that have already paid, will there be some cash coming back to reflect the additional $15 Entreprise is discounting us?

Sir. I think you are doing a yeoman's job here and much as I would like to think that I could do what you are doing now, I know well that I could not do it with twice the time and half the people. Thank you for your work on this it is appreciated and not trivial.

Brass, as many have said - you are a saint for doing this. You should get at least a freebi (or a substantial break) on your personal order from Entreprise. I mean if this goes well (for Entrprise) you may be their Phoenix.

If you can address the second order some it may help spurn interest. A couple of questions about that.

Will there be a lull in the order? This would be a double edge sword for both Entreprise and the community because of the delay (the bad). The good would be the confidence gained (or lost) if the first batch was received as the many posts here reviewing the wares received would surely drive more results (either way, dependent on the reception).

Would the price remain the same regardless of the order? I mean would the discount be applied whether an additional 20 (or so) is ordered or would you need the 50+ like with this order?

Beyond the personal desire to get a great receiver I am very hopeful that Entreprise seizes the opportunity you have availed them. Like some of the veterans of the board stated - the company and the community would both benefit greatly by this relationship.

Again, thanks for doing this!

- Mike

I would like to add one more receiver, bringing me up to 2. (BGS markings, small Entreprise script, hot blued, and custom serial number.)

My FFL emailed me a copy of his license to use, I can print it out and fax it if need be. I looked through this thread several times and seem to have missed the fax number and payment address info. I did catch your email address so I'm not totally blind.
