Lots of good points raised in this article - thanks for posting it! A bit dismal (and rightfully so), but the point raised in the last paragraph - that there is still substantial "real" wealth in this world, and that it's up for grabs - is a good point indeed.

The one thing missing from this article, and many similar to it, is any sort of prescription for private industry to lead us out of the mess. I share the author's assessment that government is not the solution and that any actions by bureaucrats are likely to make matters (much) worse, but I think that some of this blame rests on the shoulders of the free market and its players - poor behavior under the shield of perverted captialism is much of the reason we got into this mess, and why we're still in the mess.

Any solution that fails to bring honest behavior back to the free market will result in failure. Either big corporate players figure out how to self-police their actions, or else the regulatory environment will get ever more strict. -
