There was a 19 year old US Army Soldier (11B I believe) from Tennessee killed by gunfire while on patrol too, unrelated to the helicopter incident.

Pray for all the Soldiers, many of us here know from experience that it is'nt easy.

The day when America wimps out is the day we should hide our faces like a rag head and start praying 5 times a day.
I always wonder when it is reported that we lose men due to equipment failure was it because of lack of maintenance funds or running past maintenance intervals? I think both.
A war waged should say "submit or die", in my opinion we lose that incentive too soon to be feared.
Unrealistic expectations should not be employed in war, warfare practiced or waged has a human toll due to human error and fallibility.
That rough men are required to fight and die in war is the reality, another kind of man cringes at the thought of war is also a reality. I don't think being rough is a burden most of us can carry for long,,, some never can, some never had too, some never will by sacrifice and the works of rough men.
Semper Fi and thanks to some rough men.

I take it you have gone muslim since we fled Vietnam? I was speaking of reality not rational to justify a position, in my opinion your reality often leaps the un-leapable.distant realities.
We must have far distant realities.

The Crypto was a local, Senior CPO Blake McLendon. He graduated high school here in 1998. His funeral will be Friday afternoon. All county schools will let out 3 hours early Friday so all students will have the opportunity to attend. Hopefully most will. 400 Navy personnel are expected to attend also. This will be the biggest funeral here in recent memory.

People die.
Be frutiful and multiply, and populate the earth.

The normal everyday military life claims lives every week, even in garrison settings.
Gander Newfoundland and that charter flight crash so long ago is still fresh in my memory.

I have noticed a big upswing in predator drone attacks THIS WEEK, upon Taliban in Pakistan.
The war must be fought to a conclusion. That means over there and unfortunately, over here too.

I do not believe we have an option. The war of terror is a global war. By cutting and running we only encourage attacks on American soil. Compared to the war in Chechnya we are doing an excellent job of fighting, winning and reducing casualities. Am I the only one who remembers the towers?! 3,000 innocent civilians murdered by Al Queda!
Ask the Russians what happens when you cut and run when fighting insurgents.

How about invading, occupying, and destabilizing stable Muslim countries... You don't think that might be a factor in causing people to behave in an extreme way?

Hell yeah we invaded the bastards! Stable? So in your opinion rape, genocide and ethnic cleansing are signs of a stable country?

Your thinking is faulty at best sir.

Yeah, a graveyard of military might.

In my opinion it is not my country, not my problem, and so not my obligation to repair. Muslim radicals can be rooted out at the borders and via espionage, intelligence, and covert precision air strikes with 1/2 the money spent on the Iraq and Afghan wars. Offer goats as tip money.

The problem is the underground intelligence communities are funding the radicals, creating the "problem-solution" scenario and associated loss of rights and freedoms we are now experiencing. It is a win-win for them and a total loss for us.

Isn't THIS country YOUR country? They kill 3000 of OUR countrymen on OUR soil and it isn't your problem? I would hate to ever have you watching my back. How short the memory of some. Borders? We can't even patrol or protect our own. And intelligence can be faulty as we already know. Goats as tip money? I rest my case. You underestimate the enemy.

More conspiracy/domino theory? Please. Save it for Coast to Coast or Art Bell. Do you have proof of this?

Isn't THIS country YOUR country?

I reckon so.

They kill 3000 of OUR countrymen on OUR soil and it isn't your problem?

Yeah, it's my problem. I would've boosted ports of entry and border security before I spent billions invading other nations though.

Borders? We can't even patrol or protect our own.

Exactly, because we are spending billions fighting useless wars instead of bolstering border patrol and port security.

I could've done it all with a tenth of what was spent in Iraq/Afghanistan.

Goats as tip money?

It was a joke.

You underestimate the enemy.

Not at all. I have realized that they will reign victorious over the USA in the end. Their religion and ideologies for fighting are singular in nature. A bunch of born again pagans, watered down christians, and sexual deviants aren't going to whip these people. They are prepared to fight to the last woman and child. The same can't be said for us.

There are plenty of connections. The 911 attackers had connections to the FBI. If you look, you will find it.

Exactly, because we are spending billions fighting useless wars instead of bolstering border patrol and port security. Once a nation goes on the defensive they begin losing the war.

Only took 30 thousand American soldiers with 19th century technology two years to occupy and beat the Filipino guerillas who had just as much experience combatting their Spanish overlords and more fanatical than the Afghanis. On that same note it only took 50 thousand British troops to beat the entire Indian sub continent.

I do hope you're joking, just because the FBI was monitoring them doesn't prove a connection. Wouldn't at all surprise me to find out a good number of folks here have that same connection. Nothing but a bunch of Middle East conspiracy stuff.

The Muslim hoards will overrun our borders just like the Asiatic Commie hoards did after we allowed China to fall, settled for half measures in Korea and left Vietnam. ;)

Strange how we sell Saudi Arabia $60b in F-15's and helicopters then turn around and provide Israel with twenty F-35s for less than $3b.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/israel-decides-to-buy-f-35-fighter-jets-despite-row-over-cost-of-deal-1.314213?localLinksEnabled=false
Barak gave his go-ahead last month to purchase the jets in a deal valued at around $2.75 billion. The first planes are expected to arrive in 2015.

WASHINGTON—The Obama administration notified Congress it plans to sell Saudi Arabia up to $60 billion in advanced military aircraft, including F-15s equipped with bunker-buster bombs that Washington sees as part of an effort to contain Iran.
