Those folks live in a world environment not much different than the one their ancestors came from for all the government "projects" given them to live in, they are the victors of the War On Poverty and they are the future if things progress as they now are. Their dilemma is not repairable by anyone but themselves.
Maybe if we elected someone of their choosing to lead us,,,,,,, naaaw that can't happen.
Hold on I gotta go pull my sister out from under a hill-billy

In the 60s the roads led you through Birmingham, Ala instead of around it.
On Saturdays the blacks would parade down the main drag in all colors.
That in it self would bring out the spectators just to watch the wild hats & dresses.
The sidewalks for miles, looked like a lazy river of color in the spring.
I often wonder if it still happens.

Speaking of "projects", I have a wonderful news flash for all you guys..
Starting about 10 years ago Greenville, S.C. began closing all the local housing projects, some were remodeled into condo's and the cost was upped quite a bit and the others were simply bulldozed.
In their place low income houses were built and the potential buyers were screened for income and the mortgage payments were adjusted which allowed a variety of income level people to quailfy for their own homes.
The results were simply astounding.
1. The overall crime rate dropped like a rock.
2. The immediate area crime rate virtually went to "0" (zero).
3. The new home owners, who now had a vested interest in protecting their property, began to call for police at the drop of a hat for any sort of violation, which further added to the atmosphere of peace which the now law abiding neighborhoods had not seen since the projects were built 50 years ago.
Nor did the working class home owners did not want to be kept awake at night by the street thugs nor wanted their property damaged.
It seems peace is toxic to thugs and street scum.
This is simply further proof that housing projects are nothing more than breeding grounds for criminals and low lifes.
I witnessed this first hand while working at Easley P.D. (Easley S.C.) in the early 1970's as a small housing project was built and guess what?
All the local thugs and scum immediately moved there and it was continous trouble within just a few weeks of opening.
I am glad the Greenville leaders figured out a fine resolution for this problem.

If you mean were the streets re-asphalted, yes.
In some cases the roads were demolished also and new roads were laid out.

The CSI was the only "normal" looking one in the video. I suspect there was some evidence contamination from Antoine wearing the perps T-shirt on his noggin. I suppose he'll swap bedrooms with sis..

We are doing that exact thing here in Huntsville - the HUD projects are being closed and folks moved to regular neighborhoods - wish it could happen faster. This guy is in one of the worst, remaining.

The small town 5 miles south of me was established late in the 19th century as a farming community, it remained so until the 1960's when it became a bedroom community for Houston as such entrepreneurial ethics came to the town that hadn't existed before.
In the 1980 investors looking for a profit in the property they owned invited the government to build low cost housing for the bottom economic teer of the population, thereby giving the investors a profit, it was a adjunct of the War On Poverty, the investors were now less poor and those who were still poor got a new place to live.
No good deed goes unpunished.
The poor one day snapped to the fact that they were a rabble to be reckoned with and they by their numbers took over the local government, they not only run things but supply inmates for the penitentiary something the previous management had neglected, every mayor in the last 12 years and several city works Dept heads are always under indictment or serving time.
It's the Rangel Theory at work for the betterment of mankind,,, and all the little Rangel's..
Over the years I have by observation come to the conclusion you can teach most any varmint to eat as long as you supply the feed. That is the basic primise of the War On Poverty also.
