View Full Version : So The Economy Is Getting Better, Really?

This article paints a decidedly ugly picture, credit scores are in the toilet
on top of an already crappy economy. I'd like to know who in the White
House looks at the information out there and say's to herself 'gee no one
can get a job, were spending money they haven't printed yet, we're killing
the Oil Business and no one has any disposable income and therefore
everything is on course".

Here's the story: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/7104176.html

It's all part of the "God damn America" tune that plays endlessly in Obama's racist head. He hates the average working American with a smoldering passion. He has no qualms aligning himself with the banksters who have always considered joe sixpack as suckers.

Please notice that the ONLY ones talking about the economy is getting better is the gubmint. EVERYONE ELSE is talking $hitstorm. With some other stuff I've read and news that is active, I think it's going to wind up being like a perfect storm.

Yes, Mom, I'll put my tinfoil hat back on and go back to my room.....

You better trade that Tinfoil Hat for a Dutch Oven, the fallout could be severe.

We are just in the beginning stage of a MASSIVE correction due to

1. Our (govt and persons) living and spending WAY WAY WAY beyond our means.
2. Destroying the US manufacturing industry with outsourcing, offshoring, union greed and govt regulation.
3. A dysfunctional justice system at all levels, worlds largest prisoner population, failed Drug laws, "2 tiered justice" ... etc ...
4. Legislatures that are ho's for whoever waves the most cash, provides the best insider trading info, best insider land deals, hottest sex parties, cutest young boyz or whatever it takes.... to get their patron's Crony Capitalism agenda and focused breaks implemented into law.
5. A Central Bank that is a criminal organization, and insures its own interests and not the citizens.

You can't have real, vibrant Capitalism with open free markets and BIG GOVERNMENT.
Just not possible!!!!!!!!

Things will get better when we start addressing the REAL issues, which no one in a position of power in either party is doing and won't do.
New honest, principled leadership is needed, but the citizenry is too lazy, too ignorant, too stupid and too manipulated to make that happen.

So the decline will continue, wages will continue falling, standard of living will continue to fall, paper money will continue to move toward valueless, the elite will continue to gather the nations REAL assets, rights will continue disappearing, taxes will become more cancerous and govt control will be expanded.

The 500 largest non financial corporations are sitting on a collective
total of almost 2 Trillion in cash, the Fed released the figures to embarrass
them I suppose into spending some of it. If you look at the Dow today you'd
think the economy was roaring along, it's up almost 200.

no - it's not getting better... there is a thesis I have ignored that may be in play-
if the end game of the Fed is inflation at any cost, based on recent events, heres whats on the table - obummer went to the G20 begging them to follow us down the borrow and spend spiral - they said - no!

If WE continue down that path while the rest of the G20 pull their heads out of that Keynesian death trap the dollar will get destroyed - eventually...

I suggest you all read "The Creature from Jekyll Island" it's got some holes in it but when you finish you will have questions - trust me...

doom and gloom?

you have to be crazy if you really think that europe will get their act together and america will continue to spend like drunken sailors.

out: christian conservatives, radical liberalism, big government socialism.

in: fiscal conservatives, pro-business, a reduction in the size and scope of the federal government with state and local governments taking up the slack.

out: men like obama
in: men like paul ryan

the world has not yet hit bottom and the future is perilous but it is also a time of great opportunity. america will hit the kill switch on liberalism this november which will also mark the return to traditional america priorities. under the circumstances a little fear is normal but it should be mixed with optimism and determination. if you look for a way to lose you will. those who seek a way to win will find it.

Jokker - are you kidding? do you read the news papers? do you watch the news? do you live in a cave?

Europe is screwed BUT they have said continued govt stim WILL NOT WORK - WE on the otherhand have not learned the lesson yet - Jesus - didnt you read Krugmans temper tantrum piece after the G-20 told obummer to stuff his continued govt spending idea - you need to get out more.

A couple weeks ago Europe was imploding? This was all just a distraction?
Everthing has been fixed, problem over?

no but they are headed in the right direction regarding deficit spending - at least the PERCEPTION is that they are! we on the other hand are staying on the borrow and spend $1.5 Trillion we dont have PER YEAR plan - that isnt working 3.2% gdp growth of which 2% is inventory rebuilding - we are at ZIRP, we have tried cash for just about everything - cars, houses, appliances - we have historically low mortgage rates yet home sales fall 30% last month -

What we are doing is not working - if they continue and the rest of the world goes the other direction they WILL end up stomping on the dollar and it will cause inflation - how broad I dont know.

Jokker, I am in your camp. Ryan and Christ in NJ are the 'New Americans'. I rest my case, as November will be the most memorable drubbing of the Dems in modern history. I wish Vegas took odds this early.

Well then it is right on schedule.

My take is there isn't a "they" with a grand scheme.
It is simply a great system, Free Market Capitialism that has been hollowed out with decades of 2 party Legislative "improvements" of corruption, fraud, unsustainable greed, crony insider deals and govt contracts, tax breaks, short term thinking, perpetual Warfare/Welfare and a Central Bank that does not have the nations interest on its agenda.

"They" are all the lobbyists, corporations, MIC, public employee unions, banking that are all trying to extract as much taxpayer blood as they can for their particular self interest.
Collectively they are killing the host, but which of these parasites will recognize that and willfully limit their feeding? None.

It is up to the taxpayers (voters) to start plucking them off only they are too sedated with TV, sports, terror threats and the latest political horse race to muster the resolve.

Yes the dems will get wacked good. :)

But what will change?
Nothing of significance.

Obama proposes an fiscally INSANE deficit expanding budget, the Senate repubs counter with a 2% reduction in his plan.

Another empirical measurement of the difference between the 2 parties.
Completely INSANE or 98% of the way to completely INSANE.
Jokker considers these barely measurable differences, to be much much better.
I disagree.

The Nov election will be memorable for sure. I think the dimicraps will mostly be sent packing and hope the new blood is good blood in congress.

Meanwhile, the current lot of congress critters (senate in partiuclar) have passed a wall st bill that will give Barry even more authority to control businesses. We'll see, I don't know if this has been through the house yet. (Yes, I know they are suppose to do that first, but you know they only do what they want to.)

Yep, it will be a special Nov.

edit-
Here is a clip from MSN, if that tells you anything.

From a poster on the TF:

"Europe=Austerity +

USA=QE2 which then = A Cratering dollar"

I am not the only one that sees this - Spains debt auction today sugggests my supposition is pretty much spot on - we'll know for sure as these europeon auctions go forward...

the political oil leak will begin in november and the cleanup will commence in 2012. 2% is not very much but it is a beginning. 2 trillion dollars will have to be cut over the next ten years.

clearly you have not taken a good look at paul ryan yet...

The master of underachieving and UNDERSTATEMENT has spoken. ;)

2 trillion will have to cut?

OK, so the Repubs "proposed" a $4 billion cut this year's budget. Assuming they made this DEEP cut of $4 billion in every budget every year for the next 10 years that would equal $220 Billion.
They made it about 10% of the way to the $2 Trillion goal.

Now that is Republican hope and change we can believe in!!!

juanni: the master of unrealistic expectations.

suppose the republicans hadproposed a 2 trillion dollar cut? how far would the democrats and obama allowed it to go? nowhere. nothing is going to happen until the obstruction is cleared away.

you use to pretend that the republicans are the real problem and the democrats are relatively harmless. nobody is buying that anymore...

The republican Senate doesn't have the votes to even demand and get a 2% cut.
So why ask for so little?
Because there is little difference between the parties. ;)

We didn't accumulate all that debt, with demo spending alone. :uhoh:
Thinking that either party has the resolve and the guts to oppose their donors and actually slash spending is absurd, based on the history of BOTH parties.

You are one of the few, if the only member here that thinks the repubs will implement a radical change in the spending.
No one else is buying what you are selling.

Speaking of a better economy and optimism. :)

I am in N. Idaho looking for 5-20 acres of rural property.

Been here about 6 months and have noted that 0 props have sold of the ones I took note of, weathered "for sale" signs everywhere, realtors get new listings and don't even bother putting up signs or photos on their websites.

Big local employers, the timber industry is beat from lack of new constuction nationally.
9.5%,,,really closer to 20% national unemployment, pension funds in trouble, stock market doing whatever???, states and cities insolvent, massive underwater mortgage market and........

A local realtor says sellers are raising their asking prices because the market here has improved. :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:

CrAzY.
The masses have absolutely no clue.

J - you forgot to add the rest of the world is in about the same shape or worse...
oh and FYI China gets to experience what we did in 29-mid 40s, when WE were the worlds biggest creditor and emerging industrial powerhouse - whats old will be new again:-)

I will be absolutely stunned if we don't have another world war within the next 5 or so years - 70-80 years of relative world peace has some interesting consequences - like too many people.

No need to worry about the incompetence, or possible motives of the current Socialist administration holding the White House.
That will ALL change in 2012.
Not those evil Republican'ts again either.
It will be the Hill/Bill show back in charge !!!
Her resignation should be in sometime before the first of November ? so that she/he can start their 2012 campaign. Bill might even start EARLY !!:uhoh:

Look OUT !!
A new/old sheriff will be back in town.
