View Full Version : My "new" P6

June 29, 2010, 19:09

My "new" Sig P6. This started life, as they all do, as a German police trade in. Nothing special about the base gun. My XD is a two tone with the slide being silver and the frame being dark. Many years ago I saw a 1911 that had a bright chromed frame and a black chromed slide. I loved it. I wanted something different.

So, I decided to have my P6 refinished. The controls were done by Customized Creationz and the frame and slide were done by Cumming's Custom Refinishing. I polished the barrel to a pretty much mirror finish.

The grips are from Grips 4 U and it has stainless grip screws.

The only thing left is to get better sights for it but I just can't make up my feeble mind about which ones. I am seriously considering the Large XS sight so I can better see the front sight.

Anyway it is a work in progress that is just about finished.

Very nice Sig!

Todd does great work. I have not had anything worked on by him, but at least it is nice to see somebody in Michigan who's business is doing good!!

A P6 I think will be joining my P226 soon!

A very attractive P6. Did you have your mags done as well?

They were only $80.00 form Grips 4 you. They have actually been the least expensive part of the refinishing.

What finish was used on the slide and the frame? Just wondering.

Very nice results. You done good.

Thanks Ratas.

The finish is what CCR calls Cera Hide. It looks great and feels great. The only problem I have with it is is is not resistant to errant screwdrivers when replacing the main spring. I did scratch it a little when my screw driver slipped.
Oh well, now I don't have to worry about it.

Here is alink to their web site that explains the finish.

Pretty cool. Too bad Sig won't make something like this as an option.
