Well I'll give it a shot.
A few of the A3s have had problems with the retaining plate on the front of the receiver being bent and one of the bushings it retains coming partailly out. Mine was one of these. Sabre fixed it. Supposedly due to some bushings being out of round. This is not a critical problem, although if the bushing goes too far it can affect barrell removal. There's no specific serial # range known to be affected, it either happens or it doesn't. Mine showed the flaw with just over 100 rounds fired.
Easy to maintain. Disassembly will always seem weird, but it runs cleaner than any DI gun you're used to. Doesn't need to be run wet. The AUG design has been around more than 30 years, so it's sorted out.
Cheapest I've seen new A3s is around $1850 lately, maybe 1800. PJ's Investments and, I think, Specialist Gun shop seem to have the best prices I've noticed. PJ's is also the go-to place for AUG parts and accessories in the U.S.

I don't have an A3, but I have a Steyr A1 and an A2. Neat rifles, handy, ruthlessly reliable, and clean running. A cherry late model A1 went for $2000 on gunbroker last week. But the A3 (or A2 in my case) has the rail for modern optics.

As noted, Pete Athens at PJS seems to have the market cornered as far as parts and supplies.
