We picked up a Taurus Judge this week and took it to the range today. We only shot some Federal 2.5 410 shot shells, the ones with 4 000 buck shot.

The thing is a blast to shoot with the federal loads and I would hate to be on the receiving end of this thing. Wth the target at 15 yards, the groups were no wider then 6 inches. The recoil was very less then a 44 Mag. and the impact point was spot on.

This thing joins my Taurus M44 (44 Mag.) on the list of fun guns to shoot! The only down side I can see is the cost of 45LC ammo.

Looking at the Judges make many of us old-time revolver lovers weep.

However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am glad you like yours.

They have become quite popular little cannons. The shots of melons blowing up after .410 hits may have something to do with it.:uhoh:
A friend has the 3" barrel, 3" chamber version in stainless and loves it.
He is actively offering shooting demos to anyone remotely interested and has probably sold a few for Taurus.
I've shot it and was quite impressed. Pretty fierce recoil I thought.

I have a 2-1/2" Lightweight. So far I am not impressed with it. I have not been able to figure out how it patterns with either 000 buck or #7-1/2 shot. It seems it makes a single hole at 5-7 yards and does not hit the paper at 15. The .45 Colt is not much better. I have not spent a lot of time with it; now that the weather is nice, mebbe it's time to spend an afternoon together.

K. Funk,

Try a box of the Federal Ammo 2.5 000 designed for the Judge. I read a review on the Ammo somewhere before I bought some and from what it said the copper plating had something to do with itholding a nice pattern.

bykerhd,

My wife saw the water melon pictures, then decided we needed a Judge. So far all we have used it on is paper targets, but it really is a blast to shoot.

Buff,
As far as looks go, its no S&W N frame, but I think it will work well for its intended purpose of close in self defense when you really need to stop something bad from happening.

Being somewhat, shall we say, "different" than many of my fellow wheelgun lovers, I cannot say I weep.

Laugh pretty hard, yes. Cry ? No. I would rather be seen with a Webley in one hand and my unit in the other.

Blech.

But, like you said, Buff, I am glad folks out there like them. That makes the world go 'round.

Gary,

I think that was the old Thunder 5. Pre-Judge.

I bought a judge. I carry it during deer season, as it's hard to get a scoped rifle on a running rabbit at 5-10 yards. And yes, they are fun to shoot.
The old thunder 5's sucked......bad.
